I'm using a broken 1/24 Jaguar XJS V12 racing car for this kitbash. Donor parts have come from another broken model the Jaguar XJ220.

My first attempt was to build my version of the Lynx Eventer but it didn't seem to work so I used the rear engine bay cover to form the base of the hatchback.

I've also transplanted the V6 twin-turbo into the XJS but I had to strip it down to fit. Other parts of the XJ220 have been added.

That engine will look a lot better when all the fittings are back in place.

The rear light clusters are also off the XJ220 and look as though they have reversing lamps. Although they are a bit bigger than the standard ones.

There's no firewall at the moment and I have had to move the radiator forwards as it didn't fit in the gap between the engine and the mount for the bonnet/hood which I have yet to find.

The rear spoiler!

I found four Goodyear tyres, I'm not too sure if they are the correct size. They are loose but gives it a different kind of stance.

Lots of PSR to do and fabrication of the missing body panels plus headlamps

The twin spoiler has been removed from the roof, leaving just the one. Work on the rear end has gone well. Still some PSR to do and the front end has had parts removed. One or two of the donor parts from the XJ220 have broken off and will be reglued at a later date.

It's got that Porsche look to it,if only the front panels went on easier. No chance they are too big.

Thanks

In the 1980s, Jaguar was working on the F-type (XJ41/42). They ran a test mule with the XJ41 running gear (AJ6 straight-6 with twin turbos, and 4WD) and an XJS bodyshell on top.

Thanks for the information and photos

During that period I spent quite a lot of time at Jaguar's Whitley R&D site trying to get the drophead XJ42 past the ever changing safety belt anchorage and side intrusion test regulations. My employers had supplied the massive rig used to test these parameters and the drophead's structure was just a bit too flexible to pass the tests, and we were ever re-tuning the rig and software to try and make things easier for Jaguar.

The XJ42 was a really wonderful car to look at, although I only saw painted body shells on wheels, most of which had no engine or transmission, but the shape of the car was amazing. While being a tad bulkier, you can see where the XK8's shape came from in the nose of the XJ41-42.

There's a good article on the project ar AROnlone here :- https://www.aronline.co.uk/cars/jaguar/xj40/concepts-and-prototypes-jaguar-xj4142/
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Thanks Kit,  I have an idea for the XJ220. Remove the engine from the rear and I have a hatchback/shooting break. The engine would then be in the front, not that you would see it under the hood/bonnet as that's fixed

Ford did buy Jaguar,  which fits in well with this build as the front end of a Ford Capri V4 is the only bonnet/hood that fits. It has the grill plus headlamps. It's a square peg trying to fit a round hole. Yes I have removed the engine and kept the parts which will be used on another build..
Going off topic , I have found some wheels for the Austin 1300 toy car and I have used the white TR7 hood/bonnet on the Triumph Lynx/ Broadsword.

More PSR is needed and a raid in my vehicle spares boxes for additional parts when I get back home should reveal some almost complete car kits. Just got to sort out what parts go with the kits.
