In an attempt to be able to show SOMETHING at the forthcoming Coventry Show, I've accelerated my build of the IAC KMD-11 and decided to give it something to refuel, namely a SAAB JAS 39 Gripen. The Gripen has oft been suggested as the most likely candidate for an Irish interceptor, so why not?

I got two of the 1/144 Mini Hobby Gripens from Australia, in a remarkably short time, a few days ago, and I started one last night, and of course it will fit into the 1 Week Build schedule, so it's here.  ;D

The mandatory box lid pic.

The equally mandatory sprue shot. There's LOADS of stores to hang on it.

The laughable 'instructions'. They're ONLY on the back of the box, and printed in about 1/300 scale. I can JUST read them....

This is how far I got with it last night, and it's TINY, thus the Scale Reference Glue Container.

It's made of some very strange soapy like styrene, a bit like those Airfix polythene figures from the 70s, but it glues together OK, just a bit of a pain to sand. I've already drawn up the decals for it, and they're REALLY tiny!

Very cool.  Been thinking about a similar build since the stories about an IAC interceptor squadron heated up again a week or two ago.  Looking forward to this one.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Zero-Sen

So tiny.  :o
Are you going to make your own decals?

Some of the parts are SO small I'm having a job holding them!

Yes, I printed the decals already and they look pretty good on the sheet. Maybe won't get used till Saturday thiough.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

It's all primed and painted now, doesn't take much when it's that small.  ;D

Pics later.

Underside is sprayed in Ford Polar Grey, a close match to Light Aircraft Grey, and the upper sides in Hataka Dark Green.

What other colour would you expect an IAC aircraft to be in, eh?

Waiting for the first coat of Klear to go off, and then either another Klear coat or decals will be on next.

Well,
the underside should have been in IAC 17, "that light blue that you see in the early spring morning".
The uper ssurface Camofkgae would include ;
IAC 21 "The colour of the rocks with that slight sparkle that you see in the early moring sun".
IAC 9 " The colour of her golden hair in the first light of dawn".
IAC 11 " the colour of the new grown plants after the Spring showers".
with a some of the darkr brown Peat colour IAC 6.
