On this version, of single-engined Canberra, they said that bailing out was not recommended for pilots, for a reason related to "fried chicken". Nobody understood but i tell you what they said. :-\

The topic's title spoke of sinhle engined, not single jet, so maybe that created new possibilities...:  <_<

Among single-engined Canberra were also asymmetric twin-fuselage ones:   <_<

A single engine, a parasol wing, a V-tail, that changes very much the Canberra layout:   <_<

The sesquiplane Canberra fighter (with low wing loading) was not the fastest of Canberras but the best for climb rate and maneuverability:  <_<

Correction (after deep thinking over): the reason seems to feature a big tailplane, very effective for control and stability, with no risk at all for its being burnt by the jet flames! <_<

When I first read the title of this thread, the first image that came to my mind was a sort of He-162 arrangement with the engine immediately on top of the fuselage and twin fins...

Two results: [1] I wish I had read the thread earlier and [2] had that idea much, much earlier in the GB
