The Wooksta!

If it's the black box FGA9, it's the current release which is RAF only. The blue box ones had the Swiss option sprue which has the mavericks and the extended Sabrinas.

That's weird...  isn't there a sprue with Maverick missiles in that box? The sabrinas Lee's talking about are on the same sprue, see here: https://www.super-hobby.pt/products/Hawker-Hunter-FGA.9-Mk.58.html#gallery_start

Definitely not, it's a different box lid with an RAF FGA9. Both decal options are RAF machines.

This one Kit?

This is the "Black Box" kit Lee references.  It's slightly confusing as a lot of the box is actually blue...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yes Fred, exactly that box.

And much of it IS blue too. How very confusing..........  :banghead:

No thanks, it just drifted from one Hunter topic to another, as things are prone to do on here.  ;D

That's probably the reason why that sprue isn't in the box. Seems like the Brit Hunters didn't get those upgrades.

I'm pretty sure you're right there.

By the time chaff dispensers became common Hunters were already out of operational RAF service.

Not with the RAuxAF Hunters they weren't.

But did they carry chaff dispensers anywhere?

Mine got the extended Sabrinas anyway. I'm toying with a Desert Storm one, with inboard 'winders, big tanks and cluster bombs or three row SNEB pods.

Well, made a start on this one...

Started with the cockpit, i used XF-1 flat black but it came out glossy...
I already knew that some Tamiya matte colors have a tendency to come out "not-so-flat" if painted with a normal paint brush but i didn't expect this black to do this so, i guess i'll have to spray a flat clear coat when painting is finished.
Applied the kit decals for the IP and side panels in the cockpit tub and i had to cut the top part of the IP decals because it's a 2D front view of the panel and if you use it as one piece, the instruments that are supposed to be on the protruding top section of the IP would be invisible as they'd sit under the top bit. Wouldn't it have been simple to divide the decal in two instead of simply printing an image as if it was all one flat section? :banghead:

Not the worst but certainly, far from good... Not that it'll be seen by many and maybe i'm being too picky so, i'll just have to stick a pilot in the pit and live with it. ;D

If i ever buy and build another one of these kits, i'll surely buy something to upgrade the pit, either an aftermarket resin pit or a PE or 3D set. From the dry fit tests i've done with the fuselage, the fit of the kit is very good and the detail is also on that level so, i think this kit deserves a few extras to level out the quality of detail.

Trying to get the seat and the pilot painted tonight to be able to move on...

I've just had that business with my PR16, and as you say it wouldn't have been difficult for the panel decal to be printed in two parts.

I often wonder who Revell use to test build their kits because they do have some very silly assembly ideas sometimes.  :banghead:

Yep, i've seen it but can't find it for sale anywhere. I could just buy a PE set, which is easier to find but, at this stage, i prefer to keep going with what i've got and just live with it.
Well, started to paint the pilot and seat but got distracted doing modelling products research online... throwing stuff into the watch list, you know? ;)

Indeed! I does make one wonder if they ask real modellers or just some random person walking by their factory at the moment, right? ;D
