They both look very good.

I was surprised how different the change of nose made the Sabre look. But I guess I'm used to the stubby, 'beaked' Sabre nose... that's a good word for it, too!  ;D

And when you said the La-200 was a twin-engine, I was expecting something MiG-17-ish; the location of the 2nd powerplant is... unusual, isn't it?!  :o
Probably to do with the need for a short tailpipe?

The pre-shading does work, though with my eyes it's probably more subtle than in real life...

Noice.

Good luck with the Lavochkin main undercarriage...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I have taken note of the comments in your build, Fred, & am currently planning my approach to strengthening the u/c.

Your descriptions of the noses reminded me of a children's program I used to watch when I was much younger called Jackanory. They would have stories about a tribe of people with BIG Noses and one small child that had a small nose. The stories were called Little Nose.

Painted the wheel wells of both aircraft (SMS) white this yesterday morning.

I'll give one of them, probably the Peitsi (Lance), a blast with a pre-wash-&-decal clear tomorrow this morning, after I get up.

On other matters:

The Peitsi (Lance), a.k.a. La-200B, comes without missile rails (it was only a prototype), so I'll have to scratch some up; while the Kalpa (Sword), a.k.a. F-86, comes with 2 period-correct single AIM-9B missile rails (some late non-US F-86's & the CA-27's did carry them). However, The AIM-7E Sparrow (introduced into service in 1963) is contemporaneous-ish with the tail end of the service life of both RW aircraft but was not used by the F-86, which didn't have radar (the Sparrow is a semi-active radar guided weapon with a passive seeker relying on the parent aircraft to illuminate the target). I would like to add them to the mix for these "Finnish-designed" aircraft.

Unfortunately, with its F-86 nose, I don't see how I can for the Peitsi, so, maybe, buying the AIM-7's for it was a waste of effort (although I'm sure I can find another use for them) & I'll just rig them to carry 4 x single AIM-9B rails, rather than the twin AIM-9B & twin AIM-7E rails I was contemplating.

Meanwhile, do I arm the Kalpa with AIM-7Es & AIM-9Bs or just AIM-7Es? I'm leaning toward the latter but I want to give it 4 missiles, no matter what, so that'll mean scratching twin launchers (as I want to keep the drop tanks) while I wait for the missiles to come back into stock.

I'm thinking of having them as a 1-2 team of patrol fighters (Kalpa) & interceptors (Peitsi) with the primary role of taking out Soviet bombers before they reach their targets in Finland but, potentially, after they have invaded Finnish airspace.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Well, that was unexpected, in a positive way.

The gloss coat on the Peitsi has enhanced the pre-shading, so that it's more visible - still quite subtle but visible where it hadn't been before.

Will do the Kalpa tomorrow (I only have one old paintbrush handle to stick them on while painting & drying).

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Put the decals of the Peitsi last night, a simple variation on the MiG-15UTI layout that the decals were for.

Need to clear coat them but I'll do the Kalpa's first coat first.

While you were building the Kalpa, your twin-brother was building the Twin-Kalpa, this is even better! Congratulations to both of you! ;)
