For medical reasons, I have moved in my home from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor where my collection of models was, and my wife moved it to get room, thanks to her. But, last week when I installed some of these old models into a new piece of furniture, one F-16 model was weird as I did not remembered it.
All right this is a whif F-16 like I have done so many times, without undercarriage, truncating the tail and painting it sky blue overall with black canopy as final touch but... it does not stand flat, with its nose down and the lack of fin shocks me (it has 2 ventral little fins for an unknown reason). Yes, ahem, I count it now as a whif F-16 of mine, without being able to tell a date or a link for its being built, but my feeling is: I must "improve" it, change it. Maybe moving the 2 fins on the top simply, and without tail it would still be different (very whif) from the initial twin-fin F-16 project of Convair.
First pictures soon, I hope.

Here is the aspect of it, 1/144 (Revell I am almost sure), with its shocking nose down and lack of (upper) fin: :-\

The fact that I made the bubble canopy half disappearing with paint is rare, maybe I will find with this which model was this (before half destruction)

With the ventral "fins" removed, it stands flat like a proper F-16 of mine should: <_<

Uh, those "fins" are confirmed to be tailplanes of the Revell 1/144 kit, this one having 2 sets of tailplanes for 2 possible different versions; big tailplanes and small tailplanes. On this model were used 1 big and 1 small, but in a ventral position that produced alas no weird asymmetry to the eye... :-\

And now one of the "fins" is back on but on the upper side not to shock anymore (the 2nd part of the V-tail will be glued soon, this will be a one-day reparation): <_<

I will have also to add a drop of paint on the dorsal spine for some reason a little white (broken part there? was this my VTOL F-16 tailsitter completely broken? to be confirmed...)

Yes, I recognize the 2 lower fins from tailplanes and the central gluing of the fin (and yes after painting the canopy was no more bubble on this one):

Dated 2019 see http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,46131.0.html
Just the fin was broken away but this changed completely the aspect and no more standing correctly, all is explained. And that created one more whif F-16, I do not regret!

Completed! Having glued the second half-V-tail and added a drop of sky blue paint.
(currently drying, the final pictures will be shot later)
Its name may be F-16VT Vee-Tail Falcon, another addition to my collection of 1/144 short Falcons. This has been a great Sunday morning, unexpectedly!

Whatever.

Tophe

Thanks!

The "improvement" can also be shown on mirror copies into double planes F-16Z (but on this front view, it is not shown that the nose down problem has been cured)

What size is this F-16VT? Well, 1/144 is small and truncating the tail makes it even smaller: ;)

Now it has no trouble landing on the ground.

Tophe

I respect your point of view while mine is different (under psychiatric control): my models are not flying machines rolling to (and from) the ground, that is why they have no undercarriage, they are rather-pretty objects standing on a workbench than in shelves (or sometimes in the palm of my hand to show the scale). I imagine they may be birds, bluebirds almost allways, that is why I need eyes ("canopy") for them, to have a personality. ;)

Oh i do like that..thats very cool ..a neat little pocket rocket Tophe
And it could still use its original landing  gear  ;D if ya ever wanted to land that is
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Thanks! ;)

rocket Tophe
Uh, this is not exactly rocket as there is still an air-intake:

but my models do not have actual engines: no fire in them at all, they are rather gentle birds. ;)

Uh, the landing gear went to the garbage can in 2019 (with official destruction less than one week after), impossible for it to come back.
