Remove the engines from the wings and place them on pylons on the fuselage A-10/biz jet style. Move the horizontal stabilizers as needed. I'm sure Tophe could sketch that up.
Maybe I could do that, if zenrat requires it.
For that I needed a view of EE Lightning as "écorché" in French, I thought Google would find nothing, but it did! And the English word for it seems to be "cutaway drawing", all right. I got one at https://www.flightglobalimages.com/cutaways/military-aviation-1946-present-cutaways/english-electric-lightning-f-53-cutaway-drawing-1569411.html
Please zenrat, confirm if you need it. The "price" for it would be your acceptance that, after, I include such a version in my collection of Twin-Lightning drawings. ;)

We were talking about Canberras Tophe, but I would love to see a picture of a Lightning with engines mounted on pylons on the rear fuselage.  Please.

Good ideas everyone but I kinda wanted this to look like a standard Canberra, only smaller.
I now have two cut down Viking drop tanks mounted on the stubs of the inner wings.
A very quick piece of research has revealed that if the model is 1/72 scale then there would be room in each for a GE J85 engine.

We were talking about Canberras Tophe,
Sorry, shame on me, what happened in my mind like unable to read?
Here is the Canberra that we were talking about, very easy to draw (in vector drawing) as the jet pods are already there, just to move.
And zenrat, your good correction to my idea brings me into inventing one more single-engined Canberra, an asymmetric one, thanks.

Here you are. (Thanks to you)

All very good Tophe.  Thank you.

I've glued one wing tip back on.

1/144 scale airliner turbofans are about the right size for upgrading a 1/72 scale Canberra.

I've done that 3-4 times now, and I'm running out of 'different engine' ideas for them. :(

Aft-fan?

PR19_Kit

Yes, that'd be different.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

I have some 1/72 Lockheed Viking Turbofans but no 1/72 Canberra to put them on.

I know you know how to fix that problem!

Nothing available locally or it wouldn't be a problem.   ;)

Today I removed the wing tip I had reattached and re-reattached it. This time with the leading and trailing edges lined up better.

Here's the results of my labours so far.

Canberra WIP 5-8-22 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

Doesn't look much but those nacelles are bigger in diameter than those they replaced.

Good! Looking like a P-38! install a central clear part (panoramic) and lateral booms then a new twin-boomer is born: ;D

Ahh the annular flow fuselage variant  ;D

Interested to see where this goes from here.

Now obviously i need to find a suitable canopy and build the fuselage back up to fit but you get the idea.

Funny : the pilot is very big compared to the airplane, and the finger is even bigger! ;D
