This company from China was/is new to me, but beyond some "real" models (inlcusing an 1:32 Avro Lancaster with full interior!) the just released this here...  :unsure:

However, it might be based on/inspired by a real Russian experimental two-segment tank design (Objekt 490)!

Well, without the blades...?

Old Wombat

There is/was a discussion about this over on BtS. I stated my personal opinion there but I'll repeat them;

1: Just the Chinese reminding the West that "Resistance is Futile!" but putting a Soviet hammer-&-sickle on it, instead of a Chinese/Soviet Red Star.

2: I'm convinced it's a propaganda piece, as the Chinese, Japanese & Russian subtitles translate to "Soviet heavy tank Apocalypse" (note: not post-apocalypse), with Apocalypse appearing to be the name of the tank type.

It would fit with a lot of other things I've been seeing over the last few years with model products coming out of China & Russia.

3: It gels with this image of their PLA ZTZ99A rolling up a street in San Francisco;

I'm convinced that their art department has been co-opted/coerced into projecting subliminal propaganda at the West by the PRC government.

Otherwise Border Models do some pretty good kits (I have a few in the stash).

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Ah, the No. 6 Heavy Tank.  Truly a whiff in a box, since the IJA only got a single Tiger 1.

The Lancaster is the Wingnut Wings project that was left in limbo.

The tank in San Francisco is particularly idiotic as China has no way to bring enough hardware
over to accomplish an invasion and no way to keep an operation of that sort "secret".
Moronic propaganda. :rolleyes:

Much like the Soviet Apocalypse in Liberty State Park.

Unless, of course they're looking at some sort of alternative Fallout-verse.

I don't have all of those kits, Kit! ;D

The images are just illustrations of what Border Models produce.

Actually, the only one I can confirm that I have, without digging through the Wombat Stash, is the Crusader Mk.III.

Considering the amount of financial interests the Chinese have on the US west coast, maybe it's not that strange the idea popped up.

I seem to remember a war game scenario from a US think tank where a modern civil war split the continental US in warring factions, prompting a Chinese intervention to protect just these interests, and with some success as the US military was too busy fighting itself. Not a scenario I'd like to see in real life, though, but the current polarisation does make you wonder..  :-\

Well, if China wants a "model kit box art war", that's fine by me. We'll create an M1 Abrams kit with box art showing M1's rolling in front of the Forbidden Palace in Bejing.  :wacko:
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.
