Not much new to show yet, still fighting with the body work. The air intake has been inserted with its scratched splitter inside, and the lower nose section needs some (more) sculpting. Then the time for the front wheel will come. Stabilizer fins might go onto the hull today, too, and I might add cable fairings on the lower hull as on the F.6 with styrene profiles. Armament will consist of a pair of Red Tops (OOB), also on the lower front fuselage.

Made some final hardware moves yesterday, and painting is coming closer  . As already mentioned, the section under the intake was slightly modified, the stabilizing fins were added, the Red Top pylons mounted to the fuselage and cable fairings added to the lower flanks:

Next came the landing gear, and the cockpit interior was prepared for the windscreen:

To my surprise, I did not have to shorten the main legs! I think that the wings ended up even a little higher on the fuselage than on the original Lightning, and the front wheel sits a bit further back and deeper inside of the new well, too, so that the fuselage comes probably 2 mm closer to the ground than an OOB Lightning model. Just like on the real aircraft, ground clearance is marginal, but when the main wheels are finally in place, the model should have a nice low stance, a little F8U-ish, but I think that this suits the wide body well - better than too stalky legs!

Basic painting starts today, and I have found a complete decal set for an RAF 11 Squadron Lightning (Xtradecal sheet) from the mid-Seventies: classic grey/green with aluminum undersides, but with additional red markings on wings, fin and stabilizers. That should look cool on this putty-thing and add a realistic touch! I'll try to puzzle together a fictional serial number, though.

This thing is looking better and better.

That 'fat belly tank' looks REALLY good under there Thomas, well done. The whole thing's coming together very well indeed.

Why worry about a fictional serial? Use one for an RW F6 and change the backstory a bit.  ;D

This is great.  Put it on the table at a show, stand back and watch the double takes.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

The wing shape is unique and so obvious of course.

The rest is 'You WHAT?'  :o

I have settled upon a name, this thing will become the EE "Spark (F.6)". Admittedly not very inventive, but I wanted some thematic relationship. ;-)

Not wrong there, mate!

PS: I still like Blyskavka, but you'd need Ukrainian markings. ;D  ;)

Snowtrooper

Surprisingly subtle-looking considering the Flattening and the amount PSR; this really requires a double double take. The belly tank really completes the Lightning-y look so was a good addition.

Thank you.   And I am happy that I went the extra mile (or tube of putty  ) and added the belly tank - it makes the aircraft really look more Lightning-ish than without, esp. in a side view.

PR19_Kit

Don't forget the mandatory NMF panel under the wing on each side. Even the green F2As had them.  ;D
