The fastest freighter ever, the 'Stretchcorde'

No idea what I'll do with all the rest of the short tail fuselage bits I've sawn up now.

How about a stretched fuselage Concorde with extension fore and aft of the wing using the bits left over from this build?

Hehehehe I could do that easily, but then you lot would expect it to have SHORTER wings!

You could use the wings from the Rockwell B-1B, there a models in the smaller scale which could slot underneath the fuselage. Sort of SST (super sonic  transporter).

I think a Stretchcorde intended for freight would fit the GB theme just fine.  When you just have to get your load there quickly.   Maybe so the Sultan could get his Rolls and Bentleys to his destination before him....

Oh please make a functional sideways opening fuselage!.  The Guppy's looks so wrong but so right when opened up for cargo- and those hinges were most impressive!

I'm not sure a normal diameter Concorde fuselage would be large enough to take any self-respecting Rolls or Bentley, even when streeeeeeetched, and with a large side cargo door.

I was always intending to put the big hinge fairings on the side of the Conroycorde, it's an integral part of the genre, isn't it? 

Having the nose actually open wasn't on my 'to do' list originally, but now that you mention it, I may give it a try.

I have visions of it with the nose open AND the snoot down as well!

Being a mere mortal I never flew in a Concorde, but have been in one.

It's a tight fit inside compared to today's regular single aisle 'trash haulers',  I'd liken it to a dH Comet.

So while an original 60's Austin Mini would fit, a current BMW Mini would be a squeeze.  A Bentley or a Roller?  No way!

Me neither, but I have 'flown' the simulator at Brooklands, into and out of Kai Tak.   

It's a very 'narrow' body, even narrower than a 707 perhaps, with negative head room for me.

I've been aboard the one at Duxford Museum,  the one British Airways  keep at Heathrow Airport and the one down at Yeovilton. My 5ft 11 inch body could just about fit in one of the passenger seats,  which is about the same as flying in the HS Andover when I managed to get a flight over the city of London when I was based at RAF Northolt just before it was retired from service.

Concorde maximum fuselage diameter Concorde is 103.4" versus 148" for the 707.
The Concorde's fuselage varies in cross-section far more than the 707 making the difference more pronounced.

The port wing extension's done, not exactly the simplest extended wing I've ever built, and there's been a LOT of them. 

I used the outer edge of the short tail Airfix kit wing, and traced the edge of the long tail wing onto it, and then cut off the traced part and glued it in place. I used both Revell Contacta Pro and gel superglue, I really DON'T want it to  come off! Lots of PSR to come on this job..........

While waiting for POUNDS of putty to dry on the wings and lots of fuselage bits (lots of sanding tomorrow I expect...) I've been drawing up the decals for it.

Sample shown below, and I scanned the ancient Revell DC8-63 kits decals to give me some idea for the scheme. I ended up having to draw the whole lot from scratch as a) the Revell decals had deteriorated badly in the last 60 yrs or so  and b) they were badly shaped anyway, compared to pics of the real thing.
