Have fun doing the glazing
Alle kunst ist umsunst wenn ein engel auf das zundloch brunzt!!

Sic biscuitus disintegratum!

Cats are not real.
They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

Any aircraft can be improved by giving it a SHARKMOUTH!

I was thinking about that too Jim. The glazing is drawn up on a flat sheet of clear and once the windows are cut out they're meant to be glued INSIDE the window frames.

Hmmm, I can just see LOTS of problems coming up there............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Quote from: Mossie on December 09, 2022, 11:46:41 AMLooking good Kit, despite the difficulty.  I've got an old BW Models white metal kit somewhere, I actually had it built.  I didn't like the paint on it so I stripped it only for the stripper to attack the epoxy I'd use and it fell to bits! I do love the Stolly, I wish there was a simple kit.

Quote from: Wardukw-NZ on December 09, 2022, 11:18:22 AMOnce those wheels go on they should hide moat of that Kit and a nice layer of mud..all missing bits are forgotten
I to have a kit ..had it for yrs...is it built.. nope..a Zvezda 72nd topol ss-25 sickle.  ..this thing is 310mm long and has 14 wheels and all suspension units are separate parts..lots and lots of parts. :o

A friend has that kit, it's no titch even in 1/72.  The parts count is mind boggling.  We often have a discussion of the complexity of modern kits and that one comes out. I covet the Hasegawa Rosenbauer Panther but stay away from it for that reason.

Parts counts for me is nothing really as I've built a heap of kit's with more than 800 parts ..ive got the Bronco 35th Archer kit..it's small in size as the Valentine wasn't big to start with ..that kit has over 1000 parts and I'll build it as some point when I can figure out how to wiffy it  ;D
The Topol was given to me to use as a measuring stick because I was going to build a 35th scale version of it ..that didn't happen..I lost all 3 of my Dragon Scud models in the blast ..I was going to build the Topol M ..16x16 wheel drive..same as the Zevzda kit but longer with a bigger missile.
I guess it could be why my scratch builds have huge parts counts..it's normal to me..a second nature so to speck.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

OH by the way I want a Stolly in 35th  ;D  ;D

IIRC there's a company in the UK who make one, but it costs a FORTUNE!

Yes, here it is, resin and PEE etc. but it's OOP at the moment. https://www.djparkins.com/product.php?productid=18095

It's nearly £100..................

Accurate Armour do one too.  Lovely kit, but even pricier and that's before the postage:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

PR19_Kit

GULP!  :o

That IS expensive, but being an AA product it'll be notably accurate for sure.

Kit Form Services do a 1/24 Stolly with full detail everything.  $500.  I would love one but I would probly never build it because I would be scared I wouldn't do it justice.  That and losing it in the divorce that would result from me spending that much on a single kit.

I have built an Ace Models 1/72 Mercedes Tourer.  It was a challenge.  I've built 1/25 cars with less detail.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I've just found out about that Kit Form Services Stolly too! £250.00 in UK money, plus postage!  :o

Try as I may I can't find ANY pics of the two Stollies the RAF really did have at Gan, they were apparently used as 'Reef Rescue Vehicles', but who they were rescuing and from what has not been disclosed.

You can't build half a Stolly.  So buy two, then at least you'll get one in the settlement, might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb... ;D

I dug this up, from the Stalwart thread:

Quote from: JayBee on October 13, 2017, 09:25:01 AM..... and I have just received this little gem of info from Mossie/Simon.

By the way, one thing I found when I built (well, nearly) the BW Models kit is that the RAF had at least two Stollies (they did a boxing) as a Reef Rescue Unit at RAF Gan.  One had a dayglo orange stripe, the other a yellow cab.  Guess what?  They retained their Army reg's.   One in the eye to the JMN!
http://www.tonysirrell.com/raf-gan-work.php

Maybe the kits retained army numbers but the RAF Fire Service Stollie on Gan with orange stripe had an RAF number with AG in the centre not an army one.

That's brill Scooter, the only pic I've ever seen of a RAF Stolly!

I like the idea of the yellow cab, and I think I'll paint mine like that too, even though it won't be one of the two that were there.  ;D

You know, I was thinking about that earlier and completely forgot I posted about it.

It seems the BW kit is still on the go, the range was split when the guy retired.

Here's the yellow one, with the fire fighting gear:
