Quote from: PR19_Kit on February 24, 2023, 12:46:25 AMMy late friend Ian has apparently left me his 'small' collection of 1/72 scale stuff according to his daughter.

I have no idea how much of his VAST collection that is, but I'm wondering if I should rent another container..................

So, Methuselah, how many more years will that add to your model building? ;)

None, that's in the hands of the Almighty.

I expect I'll be donating the kits to good causes, meaning you lot here, just with post and package costs. Ian would have approved I'm sure.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Snaffled a set of anti-flash roundels from Fantasy Printshop. I have the roundels, I just wanted the fin flash so I can get a Red Beard Buccaneer finished.

Grabbed a Hobby boss short tail Sea Hawk from Uncle Frank. Replaces an MPM one that will become one of the Sea Hawk based projects, possibly a P.1068 with an all through jetpipe and a T tail.

I've built the long tail, it's a nice kit.  They don't mention nose weight in the instructions, it'll need it.  I realised this, then forgot it anyway...
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Won an Italeri 1:72 AH-64 at ev!lbay for EUR 8,-. Will be a body donor for a modified AH-1W, inspired or better triggered by Aeroplanedivers recent Royal Marines Cobra - the (then still Western) Bundesluftwaffe was, during the development and evaluation process for the PAH-2, an upgraded AH-1W called the AH-14BW - I found an illustration of this proposal in an AH-1 book. Effectively, this variant was a direct predecessor of the AH-1Z that never made it into serial production, though, and it was also offered to the UK (but the AH-64 made it there, then). I had the idea of building a model of a Luftwaffe Cobra during domestic flight tests (what never happened, though), and the Apache will provide some parts for the conversion stunt.

Cool, i'm looking forward to see this one!  The AH-1-4WB was the one i used as inspiration for my AH-1W FNT. https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=47618.msg875085#msg875085

I remember that, nice one. I'll use an Italeri AH-1W as basis and give it a 4-blade main rotor. Tail stabilizers will be moved backwards, maybe with end plates, too, as on the real thing, even though the PR illustration I found does not show these (yet). Might even get the X-tail rotor from the Apache, too, and I think about HOT launchers and other small mods.

Good haul from Rare Plane detective, Palm Springs, California, USA.  Great shop and online pressence.  Picked out in person while on vacation a few weeks ago and had them shipped- I could not get Mrs.Sandiego89 to jettison her shoe collection to free up suitcase space......

all 1/72, from clockwise
-Italeri Hustler
-Hasegawa F-16B chase
-Hasegawa SR-71 Blackbird with D-21 drone.  Need to research this kit and see how the the real M-21 differed from the SR-71 as the M-21 launcher aircraft was A-12 based.
-Airfix Harrier (can never have enough...)
-Airifix Bronco
-ART Yak-36 Freehand

An in-between purchase: a set of CMK 1:72 Panzer III/IV vinyl tracks - for the recently bought whiffy 1:72 UM  Jagdpanzer 38(t) mit 7.5cm Pak 42 L/70 - a nice kit, but it comes with IP track link elements, and at that sizy a fiddly affair.

I've ordered the Airfix Fairey Rotodyne from the Salvage Yard. With cracked decals.
