Thanks Doggy dude  ;D
Our biggest problem is this one slip..it's probably over 150 ft high and steep as F....that bugger brought down alot of trees and many didn't land on the road so their stuck half way up the slope and could still slide down.
The problem with our council is their dumb arses and won't get a chopper up there to lift out the trees..problem sorted...ive seen the pics and if you got a crew to tie off at the top and absail down to the trees they can hook a chopper up to em ..i know this cause it's been done here before.

Sounds promising

Not seen much in the way of news in the last week or so, but what I have seen from down your way certainly doesn't look pleasant. We have a heatwave here, I think it's equally unpleasant, heat and my current conditions don't mix...  :-\

I'm my case Brad mate any heat don't work for me ..it's only 23c here and dude I'm feeling it ..to me it feels like 43c.....and as for wind..bugger all is a good description
Down south damn did they get hard..some places haven't had power for 4 days now and some are running out of water ..we got off with a little tiny scratch and the rest got hit with a F5 tornado by comparison.

Yeah, Wellington is usually windy enough that we didn't notice it much - or it wasn't any worse than usual.
Having said that, when I'm driving the work van I don't mind changing lanes but I prefer to be in control of where and when...

The harbour is filthy from all the runoff, but that'll clear in time.

Choppers sounds like a good plan - the military has their toys there already, so after all the rescues are done maybe they can organize something? More training/practice is always good.

Wardukw

You guys down there only notice the wind if it's either 150ks plus or there's none at all  ;D
Funny you mention ya van changing lanes cause I drove a turboed MX5 that did that ..bloody glad it wasn't mine.

We'll have alot of run off here I'll bet but by the time I can get to thames it will be all gone..it never lasts long here..the firth ain't very wide or deep .
Our road still being blocked is really starting to annoy ppl here now ...to get food it's either the Four Square in Coromandel..which won't have jack or the countdown in Whitianga.. from here that's 180km round trip..no short cuts cause those roads are buggered too.
There's going to be alot of trouble for NZTA cause they've known of these issues for yrs and done nothing about it...the bloke who owns this camp is more than ready to tear the NZTA a new one and Bruce will.

Yeah... I could've lived without Transmission Gully, if the other bits of the infrastructure were being kept up to spec.
Spoke with an old boss of mine who works for the contractors... apparently a big part of the problem is they are having to use and get used to a new business model where they can't just easily transfer funds over where they're needed, and have a few more hoops to jump through.
It's only been a year though, so hopefully they will take the lessons and get better at what they are doing.

As has been said for forever: It's not that the wind in Wellington blows, it's just that Auckland sucks...  ;D  ;)

Wardukw

Red tape and BS Rick...that's what alot of it is ...some dude who thinks he knows everything changes something which worked well and turns it into something which now won't work at all or something which didnt work well and nows its even worse ..im so glad I haven't had to deal with that in civilian life...we had a similar issue in the army but it's expected everytime we went on missions..the moment combat starts the original plan goes out the window..to a point.

And as for Auckland...you right of course and as I said to a mate at my LHS last week ..Auckland is one of the few countries I've been to where you can wear your brakes out on the motorway! .

So true, sadly - both points.
