Those cars look interesting but like you say, not much help here. Maybe the next project.

I just hope Roco will pay for return postage and send me the parts Ineed.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

A lot of places theses days don't even want it back. Between the postage and restocking it's not worth it.

One of the interesting things about the current Hornby programme on UK TV is the way their spares/repairs dept. works. Assuming it's not just for the tv then it looks top class.

Enjoy France sir

Well, no.  <_<  By 9,15 this morning I had already received an e mail with excuses and another one with a return mail label.

I'll never be able to complete this project.... :banghead:
The parcel with the necessary parts arrived - I hope this time it contains my parts, not something else...- in Milano, at my best friend's home.
BUT I am in France, will go  back to Milano maybe saturday... BUT now my friend is driving around Nederland in her camping car, won't be back for another 10 days or so, and I don't have the keys to the storage room where she put the parcel... :banghead:

Someone, somewhere doesn't want you to finish this for the GB my friend. Shame  :-\

I am not surrendering, I want to complete this build even if the world is conspiring against me.
When I managed to get the packet with some necessary parts, I Had re-started working on my loco. Only I had previously milled away the wrong pin on one of the metal frames.... :banghead:
So  I  tried to drill the frame in order to tap for a 2 mm screw.  And, naturally, the 1,6 mm bit, even if lubricated, BROKE  inside  the metal block.  :banghead:  :banghead:
As a different  position for drilling was not possible, I ordered a new frame from Roco...waiting for another packet ... at long last yesterday I received it.

I have immediately cut it, and started reassembling  the first half,  the motor one.
Tested it, resoldered some wires, re-tested etc... It works.

Put together and temporarily motorized the half unit with the decoder (I will be using only one  motor) to check if  the decoder wasn't cooked. It works...

Re-disassembled it, removed the motor, re-assembled it.
Now  the  next step is to decide the correct length  for the connecting bar between the half-units, then find some micro-connectors for the electrical connections (5 wires)
Then I'll have to re-direct, re-solder etc a number of wires, before I can start thinking  of adding the bodies.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Sounds like normal railway modelling to me.  ;D

But  that's a good re-build job you did.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

That's why I don't put motors in things..... :banghead:

A lot of problems, and some idiotic errors  :banghead:  on my part later, I managed to more or less complete the loco.
Lost other time waiting for some micro-connectors, then had to re-wire the loco semi-units for the decoder, lights, etc

and managed to short-circuit everything (forgot that the halves were in opposite direction, so OBVIOUSLY, the left wire became the right one and viceversa  :banghead: ) and barbecued the decoder.
So, for the moment the loco will stay analogic, even if I kept all the wires for future reworking.

I just wanted to have it done for the moment, so parts were reattached, the units joined, I added a pair of rubber diaphragms from detailing parts for american passenger cars in order to hide the wires.

Also the pantographs will have to be changed for some better ones.

The story:
The Deutsche Bundesbahn, in the post-war reconstruction, needed a more efficient traction on heavy goods trains in hilly parts of the country, so "recycled" older E 32 locos, not enough powerful for postwar trains, to create a small series of specialized locomotives .This solution inspired the swiss BLS railway for their Ae 8/8, derived from 2 Ae 4/4, even if the Swiss strongly deny it.
Obviously it was an interim solution, while new technologies could be applied to modern series of locomotives, so by the middle sixties, the E 332 started to disappear. No one was saved for museums, and their existence is all but forgotten.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Very cool.   Reminds me a lot of the Swedish Dm2 iron ore train locomotives.
