Douglas F4D-1 Skyray 54021, flown by LCDR Imizael Mirahorn from LCNS Mosa, off the coast of Chongjin, on 31 October, 1956.  LCDR Mirahorn and her wingman were flying an extended combat air patrol when requests for air cover came the UN common tactical frequency from elements of the 8th Army, engaged in ground operations in North Hamgyong Province.  Requesting vectors, she quickly turned to head towards the combat area along the Susong River.

Two flights of NKAF IL-28 Beagle medium bombers, escorted by an equal number of MiG-15s were already engaged by American F-86 Sabres from the 4th Fighter Wing.  In a diving, slashing attack from altitude, Commander Mirahorn first engaged one of the escorting MiGs, before rolling to engage one the Beagles, which plummeted to the ground after sustaining critical damage to the port wing root.  Engaging her second Beagle, her guns jammed, forcing her to break off with the bomber damaged.  That bomber was shot down by Maj. Joe Hanson, 335th FS, and credited shared between both pilots.

54021 was retired from frontline service in 1969, took part in OPERATION EACH-UISAG during the mid-1970s as part of a Naval Air Service Reserve squadron, before being retired from service all together.  The Naval Service Bureau of Museums, noting the significance of 54021 transferred the fighter to the inventory of the Confederacy Museum of Naval Aviation, aboard the ex-LCNS Lupus.
