By the way;

Voting was NOT easy! :-\

In most categories I wanted, at least, double the number of votes. :o

In the Tracked Vehicle Poll I wanted to vote for everyone! :banghead:

Thank you for the great job setting this up, Tom!

But i do have an issue that i'd like to discuss regarding one category, the "Top Gun". I'm finding it hard to vote because i'm not understanding the criteria for a model to be entered in this category.
I'm not trying to cast doubt on the choice or even the category itself, i just don't understand what the definition of a "Top Gun" is supposed to be here, considering the noms in the poll, so, i don't really know what i'm voting for.
I remember having this issue in the past and simply deciding to not bother anyone and just vote for what i like the most that was nominated. What made me bring up my issue is that some of what i would consider "Top Gun" builds are not in the category so, i feel that i'm not being honest when voting for something that doesn't represent my idea of a "Top Gun".

I don't see anyone else bringing this up so i guess it's just me but, i would really appreciate if someone could please help me understand so i can finish my voting, TIA

Must confess to wondering the same but thanks for all the work Tom!  The Alpaca and I look forward to the ceremony.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I assumed Top Gun was the equivalent to Whiffie of the Year but am not sure.

I must admit to feeling pretty much the same.

I would have thought the "Top Gun" would have been the model that garnered the most votes in any one category across all categories.

For example:

If Build A is entered across 3 categories & wins with 26 votes in one, fails to win with 9 in another & wins again with 42 in the third, then the 42 votes is counted towards the "Top Gun" award.

However, if Build B is only entered in one category but wins with 43 votes, then Build B becomes the leader for the "Top Gun" award.

Then, again, maybe others would think that a build nominated across multiple categories should be considered on the total number of votes across all its categories for the "Top Gun" award.

Still, it's Tom's first crack at this & he's done a marvellous job.

So, maybe something to think about for next year?

Well, seems like it's not just me after all... I also think it's something to be properly discussed for next year. This year is set so it should go as is.
I'm sorry, i don't mean to create confusion but it was bothering me a bit so i had to speak... still, it's good to know i'm not the only one with this issue cause i was starting to think i'm just too dumb to understand it. ;D

I must be honest and say the the nominations in the Top Gun category are the entries that caught my fancy during the sorting process. No more, no less.
I try to get a mix over categories and avoid putting my own models in there ( ;D ) but it is admittedly a pure personal choice.
I had a discussion with my predecessor about this last year and I think that is about how he did it too.

I'm open to suggestions on how to do different / better next year. What I don't want to do is having two rounds of voting where the top gun vote takes place after the rest of the categories have yielded a winner. But I'll start up a discussion after this round of whiffies is finished.

Now when we know, I think it's well within your authority, so no probs here!  ;D

Tom, the "Top Gun" award has always been a bit of an awkward one, so no complaints from me, just a couple of suggestions on how it may be done differently.

When you put it up for discussion I'll throw the comments above into the mix & we can all decide how we would prefer it be done (except by a second round of voting, I'm not up for that, either).

Dear members of the Academy,

There are only a few days left to cast your votes. On average I think about 35 members cast their votes, it varies a bit from one category to the next.
We have over 2400 members in the forum, so you guys need to get a move on!

What is worse is that there are 57 members who have models nominated. That means that also a a number of those haven't voted yet.
Don't miss your chance to vote your own model to the top of the poll!

I will be taking down the polls this Sunday, so cast your votes while you have the chance.

The Academy,

I think sometimes people join the Site, get a model nominated and then move on for whatever reason. A shame, but certainly happened in the past.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

While I wholeheartedly agree that there should be a bit more participation, voting for one's own entry seems poor form...

But sometimes life gets in the way of the important things.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Had to find some argument to tempt them to participate......
