Everything is now assembled for the command deck, only the outer hull is missing. So the last chance to see the deck without it

The conference room is now completed, the command center is behind it

View into the command center, the commanders cabin is in front. On the right of it, the rest and work area for the commander. Separated by the wet-cell a little conference space.

Besides the command center, the storage for hand guns. A very unusual thing for Rebans, but they were convinced by the Terran advisors to prepare fro everything.

On the other side of the command center, a little resting place.

Another view into the conference room with some additional life support components

Lower deck: command center, navigation and communication. Upper deck: commanders cabin.

The resting place, I think there are some snack machines.

Oh that is looking good

Mind you given the number of "resting places" and "snack machines" I wouldn't be surprised if Reban space ships wern't twice the size of their Terestial equivalents ?  ;)  ;D

The command deck is now completed and the crew has entered all positions.

Next thing to do will be the last deck, the pole deck. The gun is located there and the storages for the snack machines...

The gun is there to protect the snacks?

Ack, ack, ack. Snack attack!

Rebans are very peaceful, so they did not see the need for a gun at the beginning. Only for protection against asteroids and such stuff. But their human advisors told them that space it not always peaceful.

So on the end, the gun protects the ship and therefore protects the snacks as well :)

They seem to have based the command deck design on faint signals received from a nondescript planet, orbiting a shabby yellow dwarf star, in the unfashionable western spiral arm of the galaxy featuring the lay-outs of several FTL starships, especially two; one being the USS Selfish-Ambition* & the other being USS Got-Lost-Traveling-Too-Far-With-Inadequate-Preparation*.

[*: Taken from the literal translation from the Reban translation, but they can also be considered to mean Enterprise & Voyager, respectively.]

Well, the Rebans started to build their first FTL ship after getting in contact with humans. Therefore their ships took over many ideas humans used on their ships. Except the intensive use of snack machines of course.

Now its time to start with the final deck.
This one will be the pole deck, carrying the ships gun, sensors and - most important - the snack storage.

First some thoughts about the outer shape of the ships "nose". I made a few alternatives, but the first one is the one I will go for.

Alternative 1:

Alternative 2:

Alternative 3:

Central point of this deck is the gun, I some first design tests with a blue placeholder for the gun.

To see if this hull shape is printable in a good way, a first prototype. The gun placeholder, well it has a strange shape and size....But it does not vibrate.... Will have to work on a "real" gun right now.

Of course  ;D  I'm just wondering if the Reban Fleet has specialist "Snack Machine Replacement Vessels" in order that their ships never run out of this essential item ?   ;)

Of COURSE they have, and they're GINORMOUS!

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

When I look at those "Alternative" diagram pictures, all I can visualise in my mind is:
Sno-cone with straw end sticking out, or
Ice Cream sundae with top end of spoon sticking out, or
Milkshake with end of straw sticking out.
Or some other food product.
 ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

The Rat

If it hasn't already been said, this build should be considered an automatic Whiffie Award winner, and in a special class. Since we're heading into 2025, perhaps 'Whiffie of the Quarter Century'? I've been on here since 2004, and there have been some spectacular builds, but the dedication and thought put into this one, and the way it has captured the imagination of many, is second to none.

Well it is Rebanian, and we all now know what a Rebans relationship with food is like  ;D
