Are  the giraffe spots decals from the sheet below, or the sheet is only for inspiration?
Congratulations for another delirious project.
Will it be a vehicle of Zenrat  Industries-Space Branch ?
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Hand painted.  Sheet beneath is for reference - printed off the interweb for use originally as 1/25 car upholstery.

Design is Soviet.  Backstory may explain the paint job but i did it because when I mocked it up it put me in mind of a giraffe.

As per the box art the Venus lander is equipped with two manipulator arms.  One tipped with a claw and one with a prodder.

The shoulder for the claw arm and the entire prodder arm are moulded in flexible vinyl which refuses to take paint.  So I have today starched up replacements using stuff from my Gundam parts box.

Absolutely.  Both enamel primer and Tamiya primer just rub off with light finger pressure.
Wiping with brake fluid might remove plasticisers from the surface and allow painting but it might then make it brittle.

if its a vinyl  to the material they make the airfix / revell 1/72 solders with a thin coat of PVA glue is something that can be used as a base coat,  so ive been told, YMMV

I was always advised to use an acrylic vanish - just a quick dip and allowed to dry, gave you an undercoat to paint on.  However, that was on polyurethane not on vinyl.

Yup, that's what we used to do in order to paint those soft plastic figures, but that was decades ago. No idea if there's been any progress.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
