As a long time member and contributor, I do wish we had more members, but I am content with what we have here,

Like others have mentioned, I visit this site almost daily and find it my favorite site on the web, a nice escape, and the camaraderie is special,    I generally scan the unread posts and click of those of intertest.  I do not click on them all, and usually avoid the long blogs.  It helps a lot if folks actually put what the subject is, not a mysterious title- if the Title is "trying a new kit"  I don't want to click it, but if the title is "Genie armed Harrier in NORAD service" you bet your pants I am clicking on it.  Some genres are of no interest to me (sci-fi, WWI, Anime, most cars), but I appreciate that others have other interests.

As for Facebook, I also use that daily and frankly it can not be beat for keeping up with friends and has some great special interest groups on a huge variety of subjects that I am interested in- you name it and there is likely a forum on it. Car forums are very helpful, aviation, etc. But I tend to agree with those above saying we likely don't need it here.   It can be a great platform for certain things. It is not to be feared- you might like it......

I know a couple of people who thought that was the line back in the day  ;)

I always thought it was "cheques for free" but apparently not: https://www.kissthisguy.com/money-for-nothing-and-your-cheques-for-f-misheard-46631.htm

Mind you, that sing has other problematic lyrics, too.
Whatever.

IMHO, as has been said, I think the site is fine as-is, without 'add-ons' or 'enforced upgrades'. Just my opinion.
And definitely agree with the friendliness and acceptance on the site.

But if we're looking to increase the entries of the GBs, may I suggest allowing shelf queens or previously-built models as entries?
It might be an opportunity to see stuff that's not been posted before, or a good opportunity to finish something that's been languishing.
Obviously there would be a need to limit the number of times something could be entered into different GBs (thinking just the once...)
It's nice to see what something starts with and ends up as, but maybe there's some merit in the idea?

Personally, I have trouble building to a schedule or time limit, but if I had an incentive to complete something that's been on the go for a while, it could be what I need to do so.

Just a stray thought that wanted it's time in the sun...

Maybe the 'shelf queen' idea could feature as a 'themed build' (there's already a thread for these).  Maybe run it for a defined period - longer than a regular GB but not longer than 12 months?

Just a thought, but yes a good suggestion regarding 'shelf queens'.

The shelf queen idea is a good one ..aay you've got a build in mind for a GB and what ever your idea is ..you need a chassis for it..I'll say a tank ..it's already built but it's old and it's perfect for the parts needed.
I do this as it's far cheaper to wreak something old and turn it into something new and today..every cent counts.
Bloody good way to recycle old models.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.

As my normal building pace will include a majority of my current projects having been started around the time the last T-Rex was put to death, this idea is very much welcome!
