The Wooksta!

I'm throwing my hat into the ring here.  It'll fit in with my current rabbit hole and I think I can cobble something together that'll be unusual or at least head scratching but also very plausible.

And this is the starting point.  Obviously, it will need some embellishments along the way.You cannot view this attachment.

Yes, this pile of crap is a load of old KP C/S-199s, the boxes are long gone, so this is the best you'll get.

That second picture is almost nighmare inducing  :-\

Takes me back to the mid to late 80's with the boxes being better than the kit, well almost. Kit bashing is being kind to them Lee.

And after a few minutes work with some spares and some strip, we have got this far.

Bits from Heller, Eduard and Revell.

I've cleaned up the prop and the radiator bits too.

No, Spain got Merlins for the 109 anyway, single stage Mosquito engines.    I'm starting from the basis that Spain managed to get the machine tools to build the Jumo 211s for their He 111s and Ju 88s (they had about 20 or so), and they use these for their 109s.  Well, to start with until they get Merlins, but that's an entirely different whiff entirely.  I may add that into the GB later.

The fuselage is now together and I've sorted out the radiators. Hopefully, the wings will go on this evening.

Progress so far...

Fuselage cleaned up and the wings are now on. And filler. A lot of filler.

It's a paradox with this kit, in that it has some really nice surface detail, but you lose it when you have to use use so much filler as the fit is so bad.

One of the more frustrating aspects of modeling.   :banghead:

Well doesn't that just plain suck ...great detail, bad construction ..wouldn't be nice if they spent more time on fitment instead of detail and that's sorted then the detail.

It's of an age and attitude when it just wasn't that important.

Most of the filler is sanded back, with a few minor spots getting some remedial treatment.  It doesn't look too bad, although the dark blue scheme may hide any issues.  The tailplanes are on, so some more filler work and possibly a primer coat at the weekend.

I am enjoying this build, thinking about perhaps a second in desert colours like the Spanish 109Fs wore.
