Many months ago I posted a picture in my blog of a wingtip. This one to be exact.

Well not much has happened since then, but as it is almost time for the Scottish Nationals and as this build was getting close to being finished I thought I better give it a bit of a push in the hope of haveing something new for this years show.

So today I have attached the undercarriage doors and the external fuel tanks. I have some paint touching up to do, the canopy frame needs painting and the wheels need to be fitted onto the undercarriage legs as well, but that's aboout it other than a coat of matt varnish. So hopefully there will be more pictures later this week  ;D

No, you will have to wait.  ;D  Not telling yet, if I get it almost finished tonight then there will be better pictures.

OK, so there is a bit more to do than I expected and life got in the way as well. I did get the wheels on and a couple of other parts glued together. Tomorrow the tyres will get paint added where they had been attached to the sprue and with luck I shall get the canopy frame painted. Decals were on previously so nothing needed there other than my coating the whole aircraft in varnish, but progress is progress.

Some times I have painted things like tires on the sprue and touched up the plastic colored bit with a sharpie marker. Quick and easy with no brush clean up.

Most of the touch up painting done. Overpainted the canopy frame as per usual so tomorrow it's out with a fresh cocktail stick to clean off the excess. Just found out that I havent fitted the ejector seat  :banghead:  and I can only find the back for it, not the cushions  :banghead:  :banghead:  I have another kit in the stash so I will rob the cushions from that. Just been on the Hannants web site and bookmarked a seat and mask set for the aircraft which will go with the set I am pinching the cushions from.
So just the seat, clean up the canopy frame and paint the exhaust pipe and then a matt varnish!
Feels a little like a one week build at the moment

Painting done, seatbelts about to be applied, painted masking tape, and then a matt varnish and we will be good to go

Seat's Done !!!!!

Pain in the /\$$ to get to fit inside the cockpit as well  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Ended up breaking the nose wheel leg while fitting it. That'll teach me to do that while it's sitting on it's legs and not in my hand, but then I didn't want to put too much force into it that I would break any seams etc.  :banghead:  :banghead:  Had to file the sides of the set where it fit's into between the consoles. Not 100% sure its the correct seat as I have a few unfinished ones sitting on the bench  :-\

And now the final pics

There are a couple of places where I have missed putting the varnish on and the canopy needs glued on, probe needs fitted and that's it! Should be with its brethren at Perth tomorrow for a group photo.

Nice one Alastair, and wholly plausible too.
