Oh I await with baited breath good sir   ;D  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Quote from: DogfighterZen on June 02, 2023, 06:28:52 PMBTW, Just one detail, i've seen a lot of people say it's RAM panels but that's incorrect. the decals represent the RAM tape that's applied to seal the seams between the panels.

Yes, but it's such a faff to say 'Ram tape panels'.  ;D

The F-35D didn't have them visible anyway, they were all internal to the structure..................

(Kit's 2nd Rule applies.)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

;D  But you don't have to include "panels" because it's just the RAM tape.  The jet's exterior panels are built of several RAM materials and it doesn't make sense to mention the panels because the decals only represent the tape itself.

I believe the info on the first post on this page can help with the matter for anyone who has doubts.  ;)

So why not just wrap, oh lets say an F-15 in RAM tape and make that invisible?   ;)

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Quote from: PR19_Kit on June 02, 2023, 03:32:19 PMAs promised, here's the pic of the PSR'd and primere'd 'half an F-35D'. At least like this you can see the HUGE difference in wing area that the C wing makes.

Flippin Adda, didn't realise it was that big a difference  :o

I wonder why the USAF didn't think of that one ...

Probably cost. It's not duct tape, it has to have as near the properties of the material it is covering and be adheisive as well.

There's a lot of stuff needed to make a jet fighter stealthy, design being the main factor. No 90ยบ angles, planform alignment to reduce the number of directions from which radar waves can bounce back to the receivers.
Then there's the aircraft's external RAM or Radar Absorbing Materials explained in the Quora post. There's also the infrared signal or thermal signature produced by atmospheric friction on the aircraft's surface and also by the engine's exhaust. Infrared signal is probably one of the easiest ways to detect stealth jets, which is why the IRST systems are coming back big time.
That's why the F-22 had the flat nozzles, which besides being 2D TVC nozzles, also help to reduce the engine's exhaust heat temperature to help in confusing heat seeking missiles with the use of the more conventional countermeasures like chaff and flares.
On the F-35 you get the serrated edges on the engine's round nozzle, again, to eliminate straight angles but i believe there's more to it internally to reduce exhaust heat signature.

That'll teach me to not include a smiley next time ... I thought the fact I was joking would have been fairly obvious :)

There'll be a short pause in the F-35D build as I'll be pretty busy at home for a while. But I'll be off on holiday mid-June and I'll take the model with me, so the port wing can be worked on then.

You're going to need that lift fan to run at higher RPMs and a brand new engine for that F-35D to be VTOL capable, after adding all the extra weight of F-35C wings and tail.  Good news is that GE has obliged, their XA-100 engine is supposed to offer enhanced thrust and fuel economy compared to the F135 used in the F-35A/B/C.

Look stop giving me ideas, a kitbash using the F-22 and the F-35B could work.

As you are retired, twice I believe, I would think you are effectively in holiday mode all the time?

If COURSE the Ds have a more powerful engine, and the lift fan has different pitch blades welded to their blisks.

Trust me, I installed the machine that does the welding.  ;D
