I am very lucky to get two of this lovely vintage kits from a Buddy at  the local club .
So I'm joining the group build with another new  project, let me think about the direction it will take .

I like the plane very much, so it is a option to keep it nearly original, but otherwise it looks so great that it could be amazing to put some delta wings on it  .

I've always had a liking for the Ju 188. Fascinated to see what you do with it
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Ju 188 is cool, but NOT the Matchbox kit, unfortunately. It's so utterly primitive...  :-\

Perfect for a quick build though  ;D

It was a little bit heartbreaking to cut the wings of the 188 in pieces.

That is real one of the iconic kits of my childhood , we had a house very deep in the forest between Celle and Bergen, british training grounds at that time. And i have to go by bike to the next very small village with a shop for Matchbox modells some miles .  Was a very good time in the 70's ...

Started the engine build, decided to cut the complete original nacelles and build them new ( it will ad some wide to the wings to, good side effect ) , i checked all the measures exactly for a nice Workflow and solid build .

Unfortunately the old plastic broke at some parts, also at the old drop tanks i use. So i have to repair that at first .

I wanna show you how i build the engines ,  think it is a fine way to do that easy ...

First i paint a tool with parallel lines to shape the parts in the straight direction .
180 sanding paper is good for the Job, better than a file.
Place the paper on the engine and use it as a tool , result is a perfect fit !

Than i fix the intake, first step . I use another part to put it inside the open front. You need a lot of glue here , put it on both surfaces and let the plastic melt for some minutes . So i got a real strong and massive connection there, it's good to make a small shape outside later ...

The small came into the bigger outer part .

Watch for the correct direction, we need it to place the nose here later inside !

This should dry one day at minimum , better two .  Maybe i cut the tail for better drying inside ..
Tail became the exhaust of the engine !

The tailfins should be moved upwards , because the jet stream are on their level.

So i closed the gap in the fuselage with a sprue part .  Better than endless filler .

And the parts of the wings came together .

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Two days later,  i cut the engines finaly on the exact same size, gave them a smooth shape on both sides .  There was a lot of color on them too .

The former place of the tail is also ready done .  Needs just a very little bit of filler , that's good .

Maybe it's the camera but those engines look like turbofans.
The silver paint definitely looks sci fi. Will the Mandalorian show up to claim it?

The engines are the famous and powerful ROMUS 2000 , invented around 1947 , i have to read the technical data book for further information ...

The silver is only my favorite primer .

Y'know, thinking about it the -188 canopy/cockpit doesn't look out-of-place on a jet...
