One of my favourite pieces of Airfix box art. The fighter version of the Sunderland  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Wasn't that based on an RW event?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

As far as I know, yes

Yes, an engagement over the Bay of Biscay. A check of Luftwaffe records after the war revealed that it gave a slightly better account of itself than the crew reported. If I recall correctly, they claimed 2 Ju88s shot down, a 3rd damaged, and the others just gave up. But they actually shot down 3! Sadly, about a month later it was lost with all crew.

Hmmm,  it's an Fw 200 in the box art though.

Maybe a fighter version but that fuselage is so big you could make a gunship version and people would hardly notice!

That's what I get for looking at it on a small phone screen while slightly bleary-eyed.  ;D

The kit is still the "classic" one or Airfix had redone it?
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

This item  is lifted from a set of notes I made at the museum at Pembroke Dock a few years ago.

14 August 1941, Flt Lt Vic Hodgkinson  10 Sqn RAAF drove off an Fw 200, which left the fight trailing dense smoke and shedding large chunks of debris - an almost certain kill for the Sunderland.  I think that it might come from "Sunderland Squadrons of WW2" by Jon Lake

Next time I'm in West Wales, I'll try to remember to call at the museum  https://pdht.org/  and check up on this.

Pembroke Dock's a cracking place. The ferry terminal itself is worth visiting, even if you're not going to Rosslare, as the hall has lots of pics of the Flying boat base during WWII and you get a good view of what the place used to look like from the east facing windows of the terminal.
