Magnetic payloads for models, a good or bad idea

advanced testing is also done.
for this purpose, im using a new kit (in this case, a CC Lee 1/144 Mirage 2000-5 (reboxed Heller Kit)).

the centerline pylon is scratchbuilt from 2mm rod (i know its a bit thick, but i needed it t fit the magnets).
the magnets are spaced 4mm apart.



to ease the workload, ive made a caliber tool to help with the marking and alligning the poles.
on the top are the 2 placed holes for marking the placement holes.

below, a pair of magnets with the north and south poles placed up,
i just put a magnet on top of one to mark it off, then i use non-magnetic tweasers to take the marked magnet for placement in the drilled hole.



so, already modified some weapons with magnetic attachments for testing. ready for fitting.



as you can see, the test results are exelent, except for the outboard fuselage pylons, i kinda miss-alligned them
