That's one of the main reasons I don't do German or anybodies splinter camo .
To much fear of the paint lifting when the tape comes off ...definitely not what I'd like when ya think everything is going great .

And yet exactly the same paint and tape, and a similar scheme worked fine on my yet to be finished He-119.

Go figure.  :-\

Which reminds me I should get on with doing the new float struts for the 119 and finish it off!

I've Kleared the whole airframe now and the darker RLM 83 areas aren't looking too bad. They may need slight amount of touching up, but not much.

The lighter RLM 82 areas are just rubbish and will all need at least one more coat, maybe two. You can see that in the pic below. I'll mask them off tomorrow and repaint them.

Originally I had areas of RLM 82 on the sides of the nacelles under the wing as the Huma 288 kit indicates they were like that, but it looked very silly on this airframe so I've over-painted them with my 'RLM 84', which is actually Tamiya Sky paint, and it looks a lot better now.

2nd coat of RLM 82 is on now, and looking pretty good. A darn sight better than it was before for sure!

It'll need a 3rd coat to be really correct, and that's going on just as soon as I've finished reading this load of Unread Posts.

NOW we're cooking with gas! The 588's had it's final main colour coat and it's been Kleared too, and is ready for decals.

There's a few detail touch ups that will be needed, and I have to paint the landing gear doors and attach them too, plus the small matter of extending the bomb bay doors and attaching them as well, but that's all small stuf beside the major paint issue that I did have.

Looking good but how many engines does it have?

The Wooksta!

Ostensibly four, but these are DB610s, which were coupled DB605s, so actually eight.

Was very happy with those clones.

So was I.   ;D

They're BRILL, and are just like the originals, great job Lee, thanks. They make the model for sure.

If I put any more coats of paint and varnish on the 588 it'll be 1/48 scale!  :banghead:

I've now done about 4-5 'touch up' sessions trying to get the colour demarcations correct, but I've gone about as far as I can go now.

Current tasks are trying to lengthen the bomb bay boors, and bending styrene sheet hasn't gone well, so I'm looking at using a chunk of spare bomb that's about the correct diameter.

While I'm on about bombs, what colour should they be for late WWII? All the 'references' I can find reckon they should be 'light blue', but none of the B&W pics I've found look anything BUT light anything! They look some sort of grey, but knowing the RLM there'll be at least 100 possible greys.............  :-\
