After an abortive attempt to fill in the gaps in the canopy masks on the 588 (I never could get on with Maskol.....) I've filled in the gaps with scraps of Tamiya tape, and a right palarva it was too. Tiny scraps of tape having to be located EXACTLY in place while I'm trying not to snap the landing gear legs off, NO fun.

But it's done now and I'll be giving the whole canopy, and masks, a coat of Klear before doing the upper surface colours at last.

Good thought to seal them - it'd be annoying for any to move/fall off during painting...  :banghead:

And it stops the paint creeping under the edges of the masks too.

Don't ask me how I know this.................. :(

 ;D Same.

The colour painting on the 588 has started, using MILES of masking tape, Luftwaffe splinter schemes tend to do that, and I've got the first layer of RLM 82 on, and it's masked up for the 83 layer now. I'll have to redo the 82 later as it's not that dense.

What a nightmare it looks for the moment though.

The Wooksta!

I'll guarantee that the Spanish He 111 in the three tone splinter was worse.  That looks like a walk in the park by comparison.

It's looking good so far Kit

Mine just an extended version of the scheme on the 288 that Huma give you in the kit.

I just misread the posts above and now can't get the idea of sphincter pattern out of my head...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

A very interesting concept indeed! Three-tone or two-tone sphincters ?  ;D  :banghead:
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

I've taken the masking tape off, but left the canopy masks in  place for now, and it's RUBBISH.  :banghead:

The rather soft Hataka RLM 82 light green paint has been lifted off in quite a few places and the tape itself has marked that paint too. The Dark Green RLM 83 is sort of OK, but could do with another coat really.

I'm not too chuffed with it, and may gloss varnish the whole thing after re-doing the RLM 82. That should harden it up and then I'll need to RE-mask it and re-paint the RLM 83.

Ho Hum..............
