The Wooksta!

Spun off from me Blog, thought this deserved more of an audience.

Current progress on an He 111H-20, going Spanish.  It's either an impressed ex Luftwaffe aircraft (NSDAP escape flight?) Or Spain got a licence for a late model with the turret. Either way, it's really not important.

A lot of time spent lining up tiny strips of tape, I won't be doing this again any time soon.

Really like the colour combinations and no creep either. Result!

Decals will be from a Steelwork.de sheet.  Tempted with another as it has a lot of options for early aircraft.

Looks great!
Did you paint the entire model the light color first and then mask what you wanted that color and then add each layer or mask each color separately?

The 63 in the areas it was needed first, mask, then the brown, more masking, then the green.  Only sprayed the area needed with a bit of leeway.  No point in spraying the whole thing - primed anyway - just wastes paint.

Nice work!  Splinter cammo is tricky, esp. on large areas.

The paint did lift in one area on the port wing.  It is noticeable but given that I'll be putting a roundel over it, it's not something I'm too worried about.

Aiming to have the decals on by the end on the week, work permitting.

Agreed. It is rather smart looking in that scheme.

Spain was using their equivalent of the pre war German colours right up until the 1960s.

I was a bit miffed that I had the demarcation on the wing wrong, judging from some photos* it wraps under the leading edge.

*Best reference is a two part article in Air Enthusiast 90/91.  Some good photos.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

So, not the Ubisoft game, then. ;)

Have always liked the 3-colour splinter schemes.  Lee's build points to some good whif potential in applying it to all manner of Spanish 1950s and 1960s types.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Took the opportunity to take some photos of the finished article in the sun, but it hid during the first few photos.
