HMAS Buccaneer - A submarine

ASC, here in Adelaide, did the same thing when they were building the Collins-class boats but they built & assembled the segments in the same yard, so didn't have to move them as far.


The Pirate-class submarines are (excluding the "module") all pretty-much identical, except that the Bushranger sub-class are fitted with two extra torpedo tubes in the main hull forward but have the small VLS packages removed from the main hull, as their flatter "module" is almost all VLS tubes (halved on the Brigand/Bandit/Blackleg sub-sub-class to allow the inclusion of the covert op's elements into the "module").

Mojo went for a bit of a holiday, still struggling with it** but I have managed to finish the scribing & apply paint (that last happened this evening).

I need to pull off some masking to see how it's gone &, if it's OK, I may post a photo or two tomorrow ... Maybe.




[**: The modelling room is a mess, to the point that it's next to impossible to do any work in there, because I got fed up with, & distracted from the clean-up. So, when this build is finished, I will be cleaning the damned room out & tidying it up so I can actually enjoy my modelling!]

Whenever I have a tidy-up, it takes me days to remember where everything is now.
Which also shows how often I actually clear up...

By the way, I hope no-one was hoping for Boring-Grey as a colour scheme on this because I'm allergic to Boring-Grey, & this beast is a long way off it!

Interesting; very SeaQuest-ish (Not a bad thing).
Underwater cam is probably not a bad idea. At depth Basic Black works, but in shallower water a disruptive scheme could be an advantage.

The camo is a bit SeaQuest-y but in shallow waters or when near the surface in deep water it's usually the dark shape of a submarine that gives it away. So, as you said Rick, a camouflage pattern can work here & at depth what it's painted doesn't matter, as there's too little light for it to be seen.
