Lord Bruce Wayne, 2nd Earl of Battersea – playboy, industrialist, philanthropist by day, crime fighter by night.

Wayne swore vengeance against criminals and fascists after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha at the Battle of Cable Street in 1936, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice.  He rapidly trained himself physically and intellectually, crafted a bat-inspired persona, and began to monitor the streets of London at night.

Wayne swiftly recognised the need for fast transport.  The 'Batmobile' was based upon the Napier Railton, while the 'Batboat' was an original Wayne Marine Engineering design.
The 'Batplane' was the first aircraft to be designed and built (albeit in total secrecy) by Wayne Aviation.  It's resemblance to a well-known design fuelled speculation that assistance was provided by a top-secret design team based in a large country house near London Colney.

The first – and only recorded – sighting of the machine was at Heston Aerodrome when the Batplane was believed to have escorted Neville Chamberlain's aircraft back (at least part of the way) from the Munich Agreement conference in September 1938

The location of Batman's secret operating base remains a mystery to this day, but it is known that his early operations were ably supported by his butler Alfred Pennyworth, and London Police Commissioner Sir Philip Game.

Batman brought fascist elements, spivs and potential traitors to justice throughout World War Two, and was a renowned opponent of criminals and leading black marketeers such as the Mallard, the Puzzler and his archenemy, the Stand-Up.

It's a rehash of the build at https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=40287.msg675448#msg675448.  Drew the changes to the trailing edges on a suitable 1/72 three-view drawing.  These were then cut out (only did one wing, one tailplane and the rudder), attached to the pre-stripped model and the new bat-style shapes cut away.  Much sanding needed to refine the trailing edges!  Simple paint job with some home-made markings.

Just so you know, Batman first appeared in DC Comics in 1939 and that the bat emblem used in the markings is the 1939-1941 version, not the original (and rather boring) 1939 version.

That explains SO much of what we saw at Telford Dave.  ;D

A splendid piece of whimsy, to be sure.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Correct.  The arch villainess Pussygirl (AKA Miss Elizabeth Slocombe) first put in an appearance in the mid fifties.

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .
