Quote from: chrisonord on January 17, 2024, 09:09:25 AMLooks like I shall be using public transport on Sunday as I am not getting the bike out in our current icy conditions. Busses to Bolton then Horwich shouldn't ne a problem on Sunday.

Not forecast to be freezing as it is at the moment, but supposed to be warmer, wet n windy. So may not be ideal for bike either.

Think the train may be easier than bus

Cheers Geoff,
I looked into getting the train first, but there is a 45 minute wait between trains from Bolton to Horwich Parkway. The trains from Darwen are hit and miss as it is, so the bus is the safest bet for me really. I need to go as I need to get some more fleet air arm decals for my Crusaders as the ones I was sent I had to scrape off my current crusader build. :banghead:

Question: are under-the-table sales allowed?

I've got a box of duplicate books to get rid of.

Thanks for the info.

Will there be an alternative to the QR code system for people who don't have smart phones?

Cheers.

I've just rediscovered that Indian Chakra decal sheet that I was going to trade you at Bolton three years ago (I forgot to bring it, then COVID & my problems mean I havn't been to a show since then).
Do you still want it?

Yes, but I can't what we were swapping it for.

You can have them for free: you've given me some good stuff in the past and it's my fault you didn't get them in 2020.

Well that went well (mostly) - it was nice to see people again and have a chin-wag. It's been three years since I've been at a show for various reasons!

Picked up a few bargains and saw some good models. The one that tickled me was The Great Escape Reimagined: Steve McQueen jumping over a Toblerone bar, on the other side of which was a Swiss Army Tank: painted all over red with three different gun barrels and a corkscrew mounted in silver slots down the middle... ;D  ;D  ;D

The only fly in the ointment was that the weather got me. After I'd said goodbye and was battling the wind and rain across the car park, the wind blew the Lunar Rover's box off the top of the stack and tipped the model onto the ground. There was no chance of picking up the tiny pieces that came off it in the conditions, so I bundled it all up and concentrated on getting it into the back of the car.

Fortunately the damage is entirely fixable. The base needs a little touch up. The rover lost a wheel, it's radar and comms aerials and one of it's floodlight clusters. Fortunately I've got more Stollys for the wheel, the aerials came from a Revell 1/100th Lunar Module and it turns out the donor kit has replacements in it, and after a bit of anxious searching, I've discovered that I still have two of the Mi-24 window mouldings that I made the floodlights from, so the missing one can be recreated. The box lid's a write-off, but the box is easily replacable.

Bloody Hell Harold, :-\  that is crap, I would be gutted if that had happened. The wind certainly was a bit saucy, as it grabbed hold of me and my carrier bag of swag when walking to the train station. It was great to catch up and have a chat with everyone, its been a lot longer than 3 years since I went to a show also.

Well that makes two of us Harold.
one of my boxes with ten models (Four of which are Kitbasher's) went airborne in the car park as well. Three escaped unharmed. one went AWOL (Bristol 148 Lysander) and the rest suffered various degrees of battle damage that thankfully is repairable.

I always use Bungee cords to strapp down the boxes on the trolley cart, buts that due to me usually carrying 4 of 5 each run. I got drenched going to the car as wind was blowining the rain like a power shower. I got the first lot to the car got my coat on and did and went back for the remaining boxes. Sadly due to the wind and rain i didny strap the boxes in the boot, so they moved around a bit and ended up spending the evening doing repairs before i can put the models back into storage.

I noticed quite a few others were battling the wind n rain with over loaded arms full of boxes and bags of acquistions, quite a few bags or packing was getting blown away around the stadium.

Getting that trolley has been a godsend, for shows, i picked it up as didnt like having to do do multiple runs to the car park and back at SMW, so definately proved its worth,
