I like the WhatIf idea, not something I'd considered before. The 'If Pearl Harbour hadn't happened, or had different results' scenario has any number of Whiffing possibilities.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

On their way from Firestorm Models;

1 x Pegaso 75mm Northern Wandering Knight (PA75129) - This one isn't a Historical Figure & I have a rather twisted idea for it!
1 x Tartar 75mm Mercenary 15th.C (TR75-204) - Just adding to my overall Historical Figure collection (this one makes it 4 figures in 54mm & 75mm scales - see Reply #959 on Page 64)
1 x Royal Models 1/35 German soldier who sleeps (RY852) - Will be modified for a Post-Apocalyptic diorama.

Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

The German soldier figure looks very good

Got hands on a relatively cheap Academy 1:144 Tu-22M3 kit. No plan yet, but it's a nice basis for a whiffy 1:72 VG aircraft.  ;D

chrisonord

Arrived today off Ebay, an Airfix Tornado  F3 gift set. Was told that it isn't a good kit, but everything else  found was way too much money. The seller proclaimed that the kit was worth £100....erm.. that will be why I got it for the starting bid then
I am going to do this one as a Fleet Ait Arm aircraft, and the F3, being a bit longer  and having a bit more fuel capacity, would suit my post Falklands conflict what if carrier aircraft. The idea being, that the conflict could happen again, and hammered home the need for a full fat aircraft carrier to replace the Ark Royal, and have the ability to launch conventional(non V/TOL) aircraft, that have suutable, and usable range along with the ability to carry a decent payload.
The F3 won't be an F3 of course, it will be a multi mission strike aircraft, and mine will carry an under fuselage fuel tank, or tanks, deleting the missile recesses, and in the wing pylons, a pair of sidewinders, and a pair of Penguin, or sea eagle anti ship missiles. I am leaning towards the Penguins, as they are different, and were in service during the timeline. Inam think of putting one of the F-16 centreline tanks on it, as they are wide, and not too deep.

Pee on it and walk away!!

Quote from: zenrat on July 12, 2024, 05:08:02 AMThe Japanese Yen is rubbish at the moment (100 to the AU$) which means it can be worth buying from japan based online retailers.
I've been sniffing about HLJ and there is definitely stuff which while not exactly a bargain, is cheaper (even allowing for postage) than it is here.
Of course this might not apply for other currencies or other shipping destinations.

I ordered an AFV Club Centurion Mk.1 from Hong Long last night. Postage included was about £20 less than the average going price. I might look at some Japanese shops tonight.

A large box is on its way to me from HLJ.

And from BNA I today received some Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and an Eduard Avia S-199 bubble canopy.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Two boxes arrived today.

From the BIG yellow H

1 x 1/72 Italeri 1469 F-35 C Lightning II CATOBAR version

1 x 1/72 A & A Models 7207 HA-300 because it's different and easy to fool people with. Probably going to be Indian, and could possibly be called the H.A.L. 9000

1 x 1/72 Flightpath Avro Vulcan B.1/B.1A Conversion Set

Second box  contained

1 x 1/350 Atlantic Models ATK 35023 H.M.S. Rothesay Type 12M A/S Frigate. I bought it partly because I could, I also have a conversion set for an Airfix 1/600 Leander Frigate to a Type 12M so having the larger kit is helpful.
