Quote from: Nick on December 20, 2024, 07:18:44 AMI went into a local charity shop today and didn't buy anything. They did have an Airfix 1/48 Dogfight Double set with the Spitfire MkV and Me109E. Not my scale or era really so I didn't get it.
Only £10 mind...  :-\

https://uk.airfix.com/products/spitfire-mkia-messerschmitt-bf109e-4-dogfight-double-gift-set-a50160

They also had the 1/72 Revell Eurofighter Typhoon for £15 but I wasn't interested.
I don't do Spitfires, but, would happily have paid £10 for the Bf-109E on its own. I could have dumped the Spitfire on someone! . I've found that local charity shops can sometimes yield quite  a few treasures of that sort.

I have found the exact same Vacu conversion kit of the Ju 388 that i have build in 1980 at the age of 14 and i bought two of them .  I love that shape of the front, especially the slim L-O version ( reconnaisonce ) .

You cannot view this attachment.

They were made for the old Matchbox Ju 188 kit,and i have them already in the stash.

So i can build a 388 and have one of the wonderful 188 fuselage left for some whatif, and can also build one 388 authentic and one as advanced whatif version with bigger double props or something like that.

Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

PR19_Kit

Was that 388 conversion kit from Airmodel?

I have a feeling I had one umpteen years ago too, but I surely never built it, I wonder where it went?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yes, exactly , and to get one of them at that time was a small adventure for a young boy .
They are in stock since 50 years !

Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Oh noooo matey ..this the hardest one to find tho not the original which sucks ..this has still has the HiAB crane in it but not the hydraulic tailgate like the original..now it's bling up parts ..chrome puts..custom exhausts and stuff...still might get part 1 ..could be some useable bits in it .

For one of my Chrimbo pressies my mate Pete gave me the Italeri 1/72 Pegasus Bridge diorama kit!  :o

It's incredible, if only because the bridge bits themselves are made from laser cut MDF, and weigh a TON! Then there's an Opel Blizt truck, small anti-tank gun, troops, both Wermacht and Brit, and various obstacles and road signs etc. All in all a most impressive set of parts. I've no excuse now NOT to build a Horsa now. How do you paint laser cut MDF though?

Bizarrely the instruction booklet, which has translated sections in French, Belgian, Italian, German and Ukranian (I think) as well as in English, all read correctly about the history of the bridge, EXCEPT for the English bit, which tells you about the Viet Nam war.....................  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Basically the same as normal MDF. If it has the black burnt edges simply clean them up with a light sanding, yeah PSR strikes again, and that should remove the burn mark.

And here is a nice video I found about cutting MDF with a laser, and a lot more info that you didn't want to know as well  ;D

i normally give a good spray when assembled  using Halfords primer ( or your equivalent of choice ) and then use the normal hairy stick methods,   as long as ive carefully done the priming ive had no problems with either Tamiya or GW acrylics , and for larger areas id imagine that any reasonable wood safe house paint would be ok.

That's good to know, thanks. I wondered if it needed some special treatment, but apparently not.

MDF is usually fairly impervious, but if you have any problems with paint absorption, you can prime with a watered down PVA glue  mix, 1:4.  That should block up any pores and provide a good base for the paint.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
