Pink undercoat does work with a brush, yes, but you still need LOTS of coats of yellow to finish it off. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yup pink does work, but you need to experiment with the shade of pink to use. It tends to depend on whose yellow you are using  :banghead:

Following some advice from one of you blokes, I bought a large rattle-can of "appliance white" and find that does really well as a base coat for most light colour final coats ... like yellow.

I intensely dislike the whole 'masking for spraying' evolution, which is why I'm a member of the 'Hairy Stick Club,' but even I can't deny how smooth a finish is provided by the spray.  So, I've come to use the white for all my "prototype" builds - either for the entire model or as the undercoat for the yellow under-surfaces.

Thistle dew, Pig - thistle dew!

Where am I going?  And why am I in a handbasket?

Yup, Appliance White is one of the few sprays I use, also being a hairy stick user. I also find that Halfords white primer produces a surface that with a couple of coats of Klear is almost as good.

For yellow I tend to use a very pale pink undercoat, applied to white primer. Find that then means far less yellow top coats. What is it about yellow  :banghead:

This thread is in dire need of an update, it seems.

As mentioned in my blog, the three Lansens are now decalled and varnished. They will now get a matt layer on top and some details painted that should be gloss, such as camera ports, f.i.
I will also have to dig up and complete the backstory embryo I started on last spring.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
