Today I have selected some parts for the build of a 4 engined He 111 version with very large wings .
I have tried many variants of the combination , also with a lovely  Ju 188 kit ( looks to small ) and the wings of a Flying Fortress , so I went to the fat looking 111 body  and the wings of a Tu95 Bear ... fuselage is in 1:72 , the wings are in 1:144 , but they are huuuuuge ....  maybe the props are a bit small , must have a look on it .  The Tu 95 have 8 props with 4 blades each , not a easy job to build them new
Pix will follow

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Yes , that could be very much on your line .... You should have a look at the old DDR kits of the Tu 95 , they are in 1:100 !

I have one, and a Tu-114 as well. The latter was converted to a Tu 126 'Moss' AEW aircraft many years ago. Not bad kits for VEB stuff I thought.

Yes , i build the VEB Tu95 in the 70's , we often went over the border to visit east Germany .

But today we use these kits .

Today i spent a little time on the concept of the build . After looking to the parts i decide to use all i can , and i have two complete fuselage of the He111  ( i would also prefer the sporty Ju 188 , but the 111z is in the stash, so i have to use that stuff ! ) .
If compared with the Tu95 you can see how much shorter it is,  and now i have to make it longer to come into balance ...  Much of cutting and a good plan to do .
So i can ad 47 mm on the size of the 111 !

Placing markings on every piece, and  put the main parts together for the whole thing . All the tailwings will be cutted and replaced with the modern shaped Tupolew parts .

And in the second step the gaps of the massiv wings are closed from the inside , so i can cut that body in pieces and clean the outside !

Not bad for the first evening ...

Lot of work for me , but a small step at the front ...

There is more to do for the perfect shape , another layer of sheet inside is better than tons of putty outside .  Both holes at the top will be closed , this is the high speed high level long range bomber that the Luftwaffe never had .

Just have a look at the complete silhouette again .
Looks very authentic to me 🧐 .

I fixed all the windows , the rear fuselage is glued together.

I'm working on a similar idea but with a different approach. I'm using the old Airfix B-29 as the basis. Project has kind of stalled lately but, I guess I might dust it off. Will post pics later but, I'm keeping the two bomb bays. Aircraft will be a taildragger and, have twin fins/rudders. Also going for all remote control defensive armament of eight x 20mm cannons
As form often follows function in aircraft design , I think it's quite reasonable to expect an aircraft designed to fill the same role as a B-29 will be broadly similar in its features! ;)  ;D

Yes , but our construction team at that time went a step further with the experience of the V shaped wings at the Me 262  ,  and the result for long range bombers where to get higher and faster

I also have some wings of the B17 left here , but the shape of all the Tu95 parts looks very futuristic to me , and the fuselage will be complete cleaned without any weapons , just speed .... Different type of concept .

The stretched He-111 fuselage idea works VERY well in this context. Matching it with Tu-95 wings of a different scale is the work of genius!

Gondor

But will the wings take the strain of the dive bombing requirement that the RLM will force onto the aircraft designers?
