I'm sorry, can you write LOUDER please?

I'm not sure if I'm glad or not, I still have to change hearing aid batteries every 6-7 days................
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Looks awesome in that scheme.

That nose radome really makes it, JUST what they'd have done in the RW.

Every Rotodyne in this thread  is above excellent 👏
I wonder how many other versions of this bird will come from the wondrous minds of us nuttas  ;D

Sorry about ya hearing Kit..I know the Rotodyne was one hell of a loud aircraft.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Quote from: Devilfish on April 26, 2024, 06:27:21 AMUndoubtedly one of the most spectacular products of the post-war British aviation industry, the distinctive Fairey Rotodyne was a revolutionary large compound gyroplane which held great promise for both worldwide inter-city medium air transportation, in addition to possessing numerous military applications during the late 1950s.
The impressive looking Rotodyne featured jet powered main rotor tips which operated during vertical take-off and landing, hovering and transitioning to forward flight, before a pair of Napier Eland turboprops were engaged for forward flight.
Despite successfully completing over 350 test flights, just a single prototype aircraft would be built, before the withdrawal of government funding tragically consigned the Fairey Rotodyne to the aviation history books.

However, in this timeline, the Rotodyne entered service with the military.  The Royal Navy used them for several roles, including Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD).
The COD.1 was a purely cargo carrier, so the windows were deleted.  The COD.2 had a dual capacity to carry cargo and passengers, so had the windows installed.

Love it! Those wing tip tanks are absolutely brilliant! Should have been there in every version, from the start!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
