Booked leave for it tonight at work!

I was spare, had finished all my online training & had to book leave for July, to see my newest grandson, so I took the opportunity to look up the dates & booked leave for the Expo, too.

Makes sense. It's unlikely there will be an Adelaide team in the final.

OK, the 2024 SA Plastic Modelling Expo is over & your local travelling reporter was there!

Arrived at 0930hrs on Saturday & was allowed to register all of the nine builds I took in for "Display Only", which was fine by me, I don't need to be judged. Even more fun was that they decided to distribute them throughout the categories, instead of lumping them all in the "Un-Nominated/Scratchbuilt" category (Subversion through dispersion!

).

Anyway, somewhere around midday the "Deputy Chief Judge" (don't knock it, the structured organisation helped the show run more smoothly than it has for a very long time) came up to me & asked if I would mind if they judged my Ukrainian Merkava, I told him I was not opposed to it being judged, if that's what they wanted to, &, so, it was - it didn't get into the top three but I had fun hearing the judges going over the build that night.

Which brings me to the fun of being asked if I would assist with the judging that night (no real kudos on that, they just wanted more people to judge to speed the process up) & I got to judge several categories alongside a more experienced judge. It was a fun process &, I think, really quite fair & honest. Winning builds didn't have to be perfect, they just had to have less faults against a set of criteria for that category than the other builds.

And I was back at about 1130hrs on Sunday (today).

Anyway, enough waffling & on with a random(ish) selection of photo's from the show!

the F117 is a classic of its kind

but i have to say the Walrus on the ice flows under the northern lights one is utterly brilliant it really screams out what it is.
