Do they exist though?   :-\
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Kittyhawk models were re-released by Zimi Models or st like that. So, yes, they're available.

FJ-6 or F2J-1?

The F-86D was originally designated YF-95
because it was so much different from its
sibling with less than 25% commonality.
The USAF renumbered it for the usual reasons - hey, it's just a new sub-type all
of those structural and systems changes
don't mean a thing.

But I can see the USN going to a change
in designation because the extent of the
changes as happened with the Ryan FR-1
Fireball to XF2R-1 Dark Shark. Especially as having the same avionics fit as the
F-86D is unlikely as it was designed to operate as part of the SAGE air defense system. I suppose one could imagine a
seaborne equivalent, probably requiring
dedicated vessels, but I don't see nasal
radiators being happy with their aircraft
being controlled by some sailor in the
bowels of a ship.

Perhaps the four 20mm cannon F-86K
variant, used by Germany and Italy, as
the F2J-2 and the wing mods that turned
F-86Ds into F-86Ls applied to F2J-1 which
are redesignated as F2J-3.
