On a few occasions I've had to cut the old super away..then super glue super thin sheet styrene to the bits and then glue its with plastic glue...no matter it's how long ya hold the parts together they won't grab.
It's so damn weird 😐

Had just that experience on numerous occasions.
Even filing the old glue off isn't any guarantee.

Hence why I try to avoid using it.
That's so true Rick...that's why sometimes when ive done that I have to go with the thin styrene...the CA will glue that perfectly..then normal glue .
There's is black super glue I've seen and I do want to try that out .

The long fuselage of the -126 has glued together quite nicely, and survived two PSR sessions so far, and will probably need a third, but it's looking pretty good.

It's not been helped by the lack of Halford's Grey Primer. They only had the small cans in stock, and in that size they're exorbitant, so I got some Isopon Multi-Purpose Primer instead. For anyone else contemplating getting some, DON'T! :banghead:

I've never seen such a rough primer, it's like spraying the model with wet & dry paper! Having applied the primer I now HAVE to sand it with more wet & dry before I can apply any more primer or even putty! Madness.

Almost back to how it should be now. Sanded the rough primer down with 400 grit W&D paper, and gave the underside a coat of the wonderful Halfords Appliance White, and it's looking good.

I LOVE it when a plan comes together!

That primer sounds like it's a primer/filler with that rough texture..ive used primer in the past which was a primer/ filler with that same texture..it's gives you more paint to sand but you need less primer and can end up with a super smooth finish 😉

The top's done too now, and it DOES look good.

Pics of the fix later.

Now I've started the REALLY difficult bit of this build.............

Applying the 'Wave' decals along the side of the -126 is not the easiest decaling job I've ever done, to say the least. Just trimming them is difficult enough, but they're so narrow at the aft end they curl up and attach themselves to each other rather than to the model.  :banghead:

Anyway, I've managed the port side of the starboard fuselage so far, even if I'll have to reprint these decals a few times as it took three attempts to get this far.

The cockpit windows always make an airliner model look 'lived in' I think, so they go on early in the process too.

I've only got to do this four more times, and add the windows, doors, emergency walkways, trim panels etc etc etc................. :(

Very nice work.. the first shot was worth a double take for my twisted mind

Decal work appears to be proceeding very well for what you are trying to tackle.

Bloody hell that looks good mate 👌 👍
Can not wait to see this completely finished..I get the feeling you'll be quite happy to   ;D

You're not kidding.  :-\

Of course there's DOUBLE the work to do with a twin fuselaged aeroplane, but at least I KNOW the decal technique works now.

Window and door decals should be going on that side later today, and I'll maybe paint the blue section on the long port fuselage too.

Now we're getting somewhere. Most of the decals are on one side of the port fuselage and it's looking like an airliner. But if you know a lot about DC8s, please don't be too critical, it's not a 100% perfect DC8-62.

Some of the windows may need enhancing a tad as they're over the dark blue area, and the rear door has to be custom printed to suit its position relative to the 'wave', but I couldn't do that until the 'wave' decal was in place of course.

I've built, PSR'd, primed and first colour coated all the engines for the 126, and there's a fair number of them.

Here they are arranged in order, just without the airframe to support them!

That's three JT3D-7s, one JT9 (I think, but could be a CF-6 or an RB-211........) and two CFM-56s.

I would hate to see the power quadrant for controlling all of those 😆 🤣

Still though..the mote ..the better ..love it 😀
