By now it's white AND silver as I've sprayed the wings and tailplanes with my fave Ford Strato Silver and re-scribed all the myriad panel lines. You haven't really done any re-scribing until you've done a big 1/144 scale airliner, they have panel lines like I have socks!

I still haven't figured out how to mask up the curved fuselage white/blue demarcation line yet, and time's a waisting.................

And now in glorious technicolour!  ;D

Masking up 'The Wave', as I call it, was incredibly difficult and I had to print paper copy masks of the decal border, cut them out and tape them to the airframe to test their fit, and modify them accordingly. Then I peeled the paper masks up and laid wide masking tape under them before replacing them, and then traced along the edge of the mask. After removing the masks I cut the masking tape about 3-4 mm inboard of the trace line, and then masked the rest of the airframe before giving it a coat of clear varnish and then the blue colour coat.

It took ALL afternoon and evening!  :o

The long port fuselage will take even longer as it has an extra wave forward of the same wave as the starboard fuselage, but I doubt they'll look identical, it's just TOO difficult to line everything up, but I may be able to play the odds by moving the decal borders a bit.

Really, really taking shape... great work so far

Things are NOT going well.................. :(

I decided to decal the short, starboard fuselage before I got started on the much longer, and more difficult port one. Starting with something simple I applied the grey inspar sections of the tailplanes and wings, but my current decal paper just won't stick onto the model! What use is decal paper like that?  :banghead:

It's difficult getting the same paper every time as the suppliers go out of business, or if it's a big time vendor like Amazon they stop stocking some ranges, or change the stock number, making re-stocking on my part very difficult.

I'd hoped to be able to do some of the decaling in the evenings while away on holiday the next 10 days, but that's not going to happen now as I'm away tomorrow morning.

Sometimes things get VERY frustrating!

A few of these builds at SMW will have some head scratching and JMN's walking away muttering  ;)

Chin up.. it will work out.

It's an announce when you know what your doing and how to do it but something out there is doing its best to make ya look stupid...man I hate that .
Persistence will pay off I'll bet Kit  ;D

I'm not going to take the model on hols as originally planned, I need to get some GOOD decal; paper first. So I'll just have to divert via the Big H and get something this morning, as it happens to be only 5 miles from the hotel we're staying at.  ;)

Aah The laws of Sodd and Murphy,  some builds just happen and others fight you all the way. :banghead:

Hope you get the decals sorted I'm intrigued as to how this one is going to turn out

I'm betting the latter, holiday items of interest are probably just a coincidence

DEFINITELY planning! We had to take a diversion off the A11 and the diverted route took us RIGHT past the Big H too! How about THAT for planned serendipity?  ;D
