Hi all

Second Hat in the ring

It is a Toph design but i'me going to approach it in a Robert sort of way.  I may not get this one finished, but I will give it my best shot

Where Tophe concentrated on design, Robert did a lot of research so that when he kitbashed somthing the final aircraft would not only look good but would probably work in a real world situation. (This is how Roberts work appeared to me )

So my base design is this.



Except I will be turning it into a pusher to allow for a nose wheel

Which will be made from this.



I see lots of problems with this one, particularly the undercarriage. I have a feeling I will need to move the main wheels back to allow it to stand properly. Tophe never bothered with undercarriages 

Time will tell........

Bicycle gear with outriggers? One main gear slightly to the left and the other slightly to the right as the fuselage looks kind of short.

Given the trouble I'm having with the Spitfire, this is now a strong contender.

Hi all

While the Spitfire filler was drying I managed to get some work done on the Zero.

This part at the start of the build I find ironic in that you have to construct it to then deconstruct it to reconstruct it again.

First a basic layout before deconstruction



I've grafted a bit of the tail onto the nose to see if it will work.

It's definitely going to have a tandem undercarriage now with a couple of out riggers on the wings underneath the rudders. Like the Spitfire I think it going to have a long spindly under carriage,  time will tell I've got a lot of PSR to before I get to that!

Kerick :-  I think this aircraft would be a high speed interceptor or photo recce. I am going to finish it as an unarmed  prototype aircraft with a yellow orange finish.

Hi all, thanks again for the comments, working on the tandem undercarriage now

Like the Spitfire the main carriage doors will open and close after the leg has extended or retracted.

A small door will remain open at the base of the undercarriage leg when the wheels are down.

Here's the door layout scribed in....



And this is how I envisage the undercarriage layout when it is up. They both deploy outwards and are slightly offset to save space.
