Reading up on the R2Y shows it was a bit like an XB-42 Mixmaster but back to front! That must have been one BIG prop shaft running right through the cockpit!

Thanks Well, while searching for japanese name for Schräge Musik I found nothing, only that one Mitsubishi Zero with that type of armament was designated A6M5d-S.

Of course you could go with the Google Translate of German into Japanese:
奇妙な音楽
Kimyōna ongaku

Beat me to it.

Although that's just a literal translation of "Strange Music".  Probably not what they actually called a system of upward firing guns.

Then it would be Schrägwaffen, so 斜めの武器 (Naname no buki)*
