1/72 IDF M-48 Patton **Real World**

The IDF was a pretty heavy user of the various models of the Patton series.

They already had the desired engine/transmission package, but the main gun was upgraded to the British 105mm.

Kit is an old ESCI model with an Airfix Leopard barrel.

I opened up the Loaders' and Commanders' hatches, detailed the interior of the cupola and filled the turret stowage basket.

The centre guides are missing from the kit track, so I made a long run to the correct profile from microstrip, cut it into slices and attached these in between the roadwheels and along the top run. I didn't bother trying anything to depict the separate halves of the roadwheels.

I cobbled up the turret crew from bits and pieces. Sadly not shown here.

Paint was Xtracolour straight from the tin and a dusting from pastels ground up in Isopropyl alcohol.

Markings were cobbled from the kits' and an old RIKO sheet.

Stargate Bookends

Another find from Thingiverse.

No real changes, basically as it came from the printer; though I did have to tweak the pegs on the figure's feet, to get them to slot into place correctly.

Spray black primer, then various types of acrylic colours for everything and a black wash.

I painted the light strips white then applied a yellow wash, and I think they came out pretty well.

The event horizons were painted a dark blue, then a couple of lighter blues dry brushed and finally white scumbled over the lot to depict the light reflecting off the 'wavetops'.

The figures are only 2-D, but as they're only meant to be mainly viewed from one direction, that's fine.
I did think of trying to make them more 3-D, but I didn't have the time.

I'd like to see a version with Jack and Teal'c in Plus Fours and swinging golf clubs, but that's probably a little obscure...  ;)
