The Wooksta!

More of a placeholder than anything else for now...

The more observant may recall a recent posting in the stash thread that I'd acquired an Airmodel Junkers Ju 90 and this thread will eventually be the build thread.

Quite a few Ju 90s were used in the Ju 290 programme and two others became Ju 390s.  However, there was a small series of ten aircraft with the original wing and at least two survived the war to be captured by British troops.

Being a 1970s Airmodel kit, it's basic, and unlike the Ju 390, there's little I can strip for bits.

Now, whilst I have enough injection cowlings, I don't have the actual engines.  The V-4 had, depending on your references, BMW 801s or Jumo 211s.  So either option is good for me.  A search of the various Ju 90s on ORAC yielded a photo of one with Jumo 211s.  So I have a basis and the relevant spares in some Ju 88 boxes.

Unlikely I'll make a start on it before the two 390s are done, although I'd like to get much of the sanding out of the way before the weather changes.

The relevant Ju 88 boxes have yielded the required engines and props, plus I think a set of Revell Fw 200 Condor transport wheels will be ideal.  Or rather the modified ones I'll be casting as the kit ones are too narrow.

Whilst I'm thinking about casting stuff for it, the seats out of the Matchbox He 70 - both the easy chairs for the crew and the civvie passenger seats - are likely to have an accident with silicone.

I have found another photo, but again it's from the back and doesn't give enough detail.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

This is the intended basis.  Squint a bit and you can make out some of the detail on the engine cowling.

Wings and engine nacelles.

Tail surfaces and ailerons.  Plus the distructions. Very handy, although no templates for the floor or bulkheads.

Canopy.  Bit yellow but may well have to use it, although an email to Airmodel may help.  I do still have the spare from the Ju 390.  We shall see.

Also in the armoury is the Karl Regnat Midland Counties book, which includes a build article, as well as a copy of one from a 2015 SAMI that the seller included.

I need to cast some wheels too, the ones from the Condor should be bob on.

Nah, seriously. Looking forward to this
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Wooksta!

It's nowhere near as rough as the Contrail 390, so hopefully should be an easier build, but apart from a coat of primer and casting some wheels, I doubt I'll do anything with it until next year.
