Appliance White is not a primer. It is a Gloss white finish. There is a White Plastic Primer which gives a matt white finish.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I was simply pointing out that, it's the one item I use often that seems permanently in short supply locally. I have no issues getting either white or grey primer.

They will order it in. I ordered a few cans of aluminium some time back when it was never on the shelves.

Why the devil can such a basic item be in short supply in just SOME shops? Their distribution Manager needs to be fired, he/she's incapable.

I used to find this was quite a problem when I worked for Aldi albeit usually with the special buys as opposed to normal day to day items. Some branches would recieve them and, others not. Used ti hear no end of whinges along the lines of "but it says you can buy in stores on the website"!  The Airfix starter kits are a case in point.  I've seen no end of whining comments along the lines of "none in my Aldi"! There are 6 branches of Aldi in Edinburgh. My three nearest ones didn't get any. Not that it bothers me as, they're the same old, same old EVERY year.

I cannot understand why most of the modellers in the UK are jacking off over the Aldi starter sets.  Fine, if they were adding something different but it's the same crap every sodding year.

Seeing as these days most of it is handled by automatic inventory systems I doubt that a human "Distribution Manager" has much to do with the issue.

When I escaped from teaching, I ran the customer service operation of a big Christian book wholesaler.  They had a chain of  40 ish  shops. Every two months, retail distribution sent out to every shop  identical batches of stock that  they "knew" would sell well..............Welsh, Scottish and Irish shops got Church of England hymn and prayer books  and if there was a Welsh or Gaelic title it went to every shop.   It took me 18 months of nagging until area specific distribution was finally organised. That was only because both of the senior distribution people were off ill, and the finance director took temporary charge that anything happened.  She was aghast at the unsold returns, often damaged, that lost money!

I went into the Lowestoft branch of Halfords today, about 1/2 miles from the Big H, and they had over FORTY large cans of  grey primer!

The sales guy said there'd be a riot if they never had it in stock...................

How many have they got now ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

We're having a similar problem here in NZ with a automotive store called Repco.
This is where I buy my Duplicolour and VHT primers from.
VHT is a bloody good paint but D/colour is better and yep you can buy cans of spray paint from hardware stores here but it's not really any good for models..brands like Dulux and Rust o len spray very nicely and I've used em many times in the past but they spray to hard with a thick layer of paint.
The Repco issues are the same as your Kit..some stores have it and others don't have it or haven't had stocks for ages .
It's extremely bloody annoying as the second nearest Repco to me is over 100ks away and here if they order it for you you have to pay the delivery costs.
Don't even think of ordering online..that's more trouble than it's worth.
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The Range do their own spray primers which seem to be as good as Halfords but at a little more than half the price.  Not as big a range of colours though.
