From a visit to Boston earlier in the year:

USS Cassin Young, Fletcher Class destroyer.  Unfortunately it shut earlier than the nearby USS Constitution, so I couldn't get onboard.  I've got several more detail pics, if anyone wants them.

USS Constitution, undergoing re-fit.  Got onboard, but not allowed to take pictures!

USCGC Spencer, Famous Class cutter.

USCGC Seneca, Famous Class cutter.  I was lucky enough to be there just when she was coming in to dock.

Spencer & Seneca together.

DUKW.  One of twenty-odd used by Boston Duck Tours.  Me & the missus were in another one opposite.  All have very dfferent liveries & patriotic or local names, this was 'South End Sara', ours was 'Old Gloria'.  I've got more pics if anyones interested.

A Super Duck, not quite the same! ;)  But worth a pic.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

From the (ex) Royal Naval Shipyards in Bermuda, part of the same holiday as the Boston trip:

MSC Orchestra & Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Spirit

NCL Norwegian Spirit

Club Med 2 (original name!).  Had been docked in Hamilton near our hotel, but couldn't get a decent shot.  Was lucky to see her on her way out.

Tug Powerful, back from helping the Orchestra out.

I took quite a lot too of the Round the World Yacht Race contenders & their flotilla, have a look here:

HMS Explorer, an Archer Class patrol boat, taken around the time of the races.

I went for a walk over the weekend, and one of my "mystery" boats was back in the river.

It's always in that area, near some buoys, so I wonder if it's not some sort of tender, but all the buoy tenders I've seen online are larger conventional hulls with cranes and whatnot.

Watch this space.  Yesterday was the beginning of Norfolk's Fleet Week.  The USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) is tied up outside the BAE Systems dock, and the USS Nitze (DDG-94) is open for free tours through Tuesday.  I'll have my photos up tomorrow or the next day.

about a few months ago, HMS Blazer & HMS Puncher visited Ostend harbour  ;D

Three Archer Class in one page, the chances of that have to be slim!  Especially since there's only sixteen of them.  Now if anyone's got any pics of HMS Express, the only RN vessel to have a black hull, then I'd love to see them!

Arrived an hour late, but when you're the largest cruise liner in the world, there's nobody going to argue !!

Not the largest ocean liner by any means, but the biggest thing I've seen in the river in a good while (not counting the Wisconsin).

This guy was maneuvering, preparing to enter the Portsmouth marina.

I trekked on down the seawall to the BAE yards, and found this on the Iwo Jima's flight deck.  It's probably a write-off used for firefighter training or something, but it was nice to see a Harrier up close.

Some of U.S.S. Independence (LCS-2) that a friend sent me:

Regards,

Greg

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Greg,

Nice shots of the Independence.  LCS-1, the Freedom, is scheduled to stop in at Norfolk sometime later this year, before deploying (almost a year early) to the Africa/Southwest Asia Command areas.

That's interesting.  A fast helicoper carrying armed ship in the Indian Ocean.  I wonder how that would work against some of the pirates over there.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.
