For those who don't know, Operation Unthinkable was (basically) the British battle plan drawn up for the commencement of WW3 immediately after the end of WW2.

That's interesting, cheers  :thumbsup: 

I've read a few snippets down the years, but they mainly concerned a planned British readiness to respond immediately if the Soviets didn't stop their drive to the North Sea at the end of the War, which was considered a distinct possibility.

In autumn and winter, the Grumman Hellcat would certainly have had problems. Mud and cold, it was not designed for that. The Schlachtgeschwader2 under Rudel would have liked their Ju 87 G back.
