Radish

JMN= Joyless Modelling Nazi

A term first coined by Wookster, and employed thereafter by all true What Iffers, etc..

It refers to the knit-picking twats who argue endlessly about whether a Hurricane nose is 1 mm longer than the Hasegawa kit, or whether the F-16D created by modeller "Y" is painted in the correct shade of grey (or should it be Gray?) on the uppersurfaces, ad infinitum.

The implication is that these JMNs also talk a model rather than make it!

HS and ARC (to a lesser extent) have some great examples.
On rare occasions, Wookster has been known to post highly amusing vitriol on the HS forum, but we tend to ignore the bastards now, and just laugh.

We once had a suggestion from Supertom that we ought to have a JMN Group Build, where we take a totally accurate (??) kit and build it in a "JMN" way, paying great attention to the size of the foot pedals, the shape of the top of the control column and the number of rivets on the inside of the closed u/c doors, etc..

Quote- Corsair (naturally)

- P-38 Lightning (if I can figure out how to pull it off)

- PB4Y-2 Privateer (someone else here drew a great B-24 Liberator seaplane conversion and that would be great, too)

Others?
Corsair's been done and posted here. I even did a little bitty copy of it that'll appear here aboard  ship this weekend.

P-38 was proposed - twin floats, one per boom.

You mean something like the PB2Y Coronado?  ;)

Ya want a challenge? How about a B-36 or a B-52?  :D
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh.......

Do it, Baz !  I could just see a photo-shopped pic of a half dozen Harvards floating out in the Bay of Quinte during BCATP training !

And a Caribou would be too cool.........

I know in the last few days I've read that someone is releasing a 1/48 Privateer, but I can't for the life of me remember where....  :dum:

What munching on the reeds alongside the Harvards ? :P
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well, it's not quite a B-36, but Convair did a study of a seaplane variant of the C-99.

That's funny 'cause whenever I type "JHM" I usually first type in "JMN" by mistake.

Must be a Freudian thing: my subconscious, secret desire to actually become a JMN.   :o

Which would be pretty funny since, as many here have likely noticed, I get an airplane's real name WRONG half the time, let alone build them authentically!

QuoteI now know what those poor soap opera additcts feel like.  Now that our beloved "Man Ho" John Howling Mouse has created three separate threads with on-going builds I feel like my life is incomplete without seeing his latest accomplishments.

Please give us an update 'oh beloved Man Ho!'  Enough with the torment, give us some more imagery of the floats and the project underway!

I'm loading pics right now!  I'm on call this week  :(   but I'll try to get something on the go, regardless.

Next Friday off (if the place holds itself together) I'm planning to pull a "Leigh" (translation: "weekend build for fun: Matchbox breath of fresh air style!").
