Quote from: kerick on October 16, 2024, 10:15:14 AMThese ideas are interesting. I'll have to investigate a little more and see how that would fit a Corsair, Skyraider or Black Widow.

Actually a Black Widow with Pythons would be interesting.  Or an A-26 with T56s.  I could see an upgraded A-1 with a T56, or a British version with a Python (instead of the Wyvern).  Once I get finished with this project and another kit that was recently gifted to me, I plan on doing an A2D Skyshark (yes, gotta have that unreliable T40 on something  ;D ) or maybe an A2J Super Savage.  I wonder about a Firebrand fitted with the Python, though that would make for a really long nosed plane.

Perhaps there's a kit, somewhere, for XP-61E or F-15 Reporter.

PR19_Kit

There is, I can actually see one from where I'm sitting actually.

Mine is an Anigrand resin but there's a good vacform F-15 too as I have one of them in The Loft.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks cool! Lots of whiffery potential.

I could certainly see a couple of Wasp Majors on there!

I'm trying to decide what to arm the Bearcat with.  It has three pylons for heavy stores (~1000lb each) and two for lighter ones (~500lb each).  I'm thinking a combination of M-117 bombs and Zuni rockets (twin pods).

M-117s and Zunis ...with the brutal look of your bird and bombs and rockets..a very nice mix 👌  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Well, I'm going to have to scrap the twin Zuni pod idea, it's just too small to play well with an FDM printer like mine.  Maybe if I had a resin printer  :banghead:
I may break down and buy one some day, but for now the FDM will have to do, and I will have to use the traditional LAU-10 quad-shot pods.  Oh well, more firepower is fine with me  ;D

Would styrene tubing and sharpened kit runner do the job?

Maybe if I had that stuff on hand.  After checking the weights I think I'll just print some LAU-10s for the inner wing pylons and maybe a couple of Mk-82 Snakeyes for the outer ones.  I'll probably also hang an M-117 on the centerline.

Don't forget the fuse extender if you're going for early 60's look. It's just a pipe in place of the regular fuse with the fuse on the tip. Should be easy to print.

I doubt it would be that easy to print, I used to have a Revell F-105 that had a couple of those on its center M-117 rack.  I'd probably be better off to drill a hole in the nose of the bomb and glue in a small piece of wire.  That would also be less likely to snap.

Well, I think I may be able to salvage the twin Zuni pods after all.  I had printed some HVARs with fins that didn't turn out so well, and only the nosecones of the rockets in the Zuni pods were messed up, so I think I can cut off that part and replace it with a pair of HVAR noses.  No one will ever know  ;D

The Turbo-Bearcat has its first coat of paint applied, sky grey on top and white underneath.
