Have  no fear, there'll be LOADS of them after the event.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

As I will have a laptop computer with me I will probably upload some on the Saturday after the show, Sunday too as I am not travelling until the Monday.

Quote from: Gondor on October 27, 2024, 11:11:39 PMI will have with me a part started/finished model and will have the backstory, which is complete, in printed form. Would that be eligible considering that the backstory has links to web pages in it to the various equipment used in the aircraft?

Gondor
I think the physical model needs to be completed, back story is a bonus, but the judging would be what is on the table. That said, it is down to Kit and Dominic to decide as they see fit.

Just in from the casters, so hopefully packed up for the show next weekend, all 1/72 reissues:

TSR.2 fuel tank set (large belly and wing drop tanks)
TSR.2 Blue Water missile set (includes belly tank)
TSR.2 extended nose leg
TSR.2 chaff pods
HS.125 COD conversion

Plenty available so no need to reserve if you are there on the Saturday.

Thanks,
Colin

I won't be there and I'd like to reserve one set of each., please..  If they are available, I'd also like to obtain an EE P12 set, a pair of P.1109A conversions , one P.1109B conversion, an a pair of P.1083 wing sets..   The P12 conversion is going on a B-57B with the Red Dean mod'd to look lmore like a US missile of the period.

What I am doing at Telford:

1) Get to the SiG table, deposit models, say hi to other people at the stand etc.

2) Make a beeline for Hall 2 Row C

3) Decide what to do next

oooh snap. My additional plan is to then wander aimlessly around the show, looking for things on my list, visiting the same stands at least 5 times on the hope of spotting something I may have missed.....

Sounds like the SMW standard routine to me.....................
I always hope for the best.

experience has taught me to expect the worst.

SMW plans are like battleplans, once the event kicks off plans tend to go out the window, there are distractions in the halls between us and Freightdog, plus there are fellow SIG members, who may have spotted something en-route to the stand that demands our immediate attention  ;D

So true. I just hope I don't have to dodge the odd Darlek or two as I did on my first visit, but I know what you mean.

Quote from: Freightdog862 on October 27, 2024, 02:38:17 PMThis year at Telford I will again be sponsoring a small competition on the What-If stand. This will be slightly different than in previous years. Firstly it will be open to all models on the table, not just those with Freightdog parts on them. Secondly, the Elder Statesman of the SIG, PR19_Kit has graciously agreed to judge, along with Dominic McEvoy.

As per last year, two prizes will be given, one for technical build, and one for originality, meaning you don't have to have the model on the table to win one of the prizes. The prize will be a selection of goodies, to be given on the Sunday afternoon.

My thanks to our Glorious Leader for giving his approval.

Colin

Congratulations to scautomoton and Zenrat on winning the Best on the table at SMW last weekend. The AW.169 was a stunning example, and amazing scratch build via the medium of 3D printing, and the B.28 and a half was winner for the spirit of What-If Modelling complete with backstory, as judged by Kit and Dominic.

Thank you to Kit and Dominic, maybe next year the official IPMS What-If class can get a few more entries, as there were plenty of models on the What-Of and Project Cancelled table that could have won something!

Thanks,
Colin

It was a pleasure doing it Colin, thanks for the opportunity.

My campaign for swamping Class 32 (or whatever they decide the Whiff Class is next year...) has already gained lots of support, and will hopefully result in a LARGE number of models there in 2025.

Well said Kit.  I might even enter a couple myself: if I do it'll be the first time since the Nationals were held at Stoneleigh....
